Wooohoo! I love my internet friends! Ravurian, who is a charming boy I know from LJ and have met in a pub in London once upon a time (and who makes lovely manips) has sent me House, SGA, Veronica Mars and BSG on disk.

BLESS him.

Meanwhile I've ordered B5 Seasons 1-5 for £49.99 (+postage), which strikes me as a singularly reasonable offer, considering that the list price is £55.00 per season, and the best amazon can do is around £30 per season. I'm going to get SG1 too. I'm still pondering X Files.

I love fandom.

That's brilliant Fay! You can finally watch Aquarium! See John and Rodney in all their snarky glory! Also, Hugh Laurie being incredibly un-Hugh Laurie-ish. The weirdest part of watching House is when the ads come on and he's doing jolly voice-overs for Huggies pull-ups.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Wow, Fay. I have no idea who Ravurian is, but I can make out with him for you if you like.

Those are AMAZING shows, all four of them. Plus, only one season to catch up on each of them! (Now, someone needs to send you Deadwood and you'd have all best of what TV had to offer this past season.)

Art Crawl!!!

This week House called the Aussie doctor a "Brit" and when Aussie doc protested he replied something like, "If you've got the Queen on your money, then you're a Brit".

Which was just funny.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

See John and Rodney in all their snarky glory!

Yes! They're both very lickable snarky. But I have to say, based on my viewing of the Pilot episode just now, I'm coming out with a HUGE amount of love for Carson. I mean, maybe it's just that I love Scottish accents, and he sounds like home, or like he's inadvertently stumbled into the wrong universe, with all these heroic shiny American types doing earth shattering epic things, when he should be down the pub bitching about the nutters who showed up at his surgery today...I don't know, but I have this mighty love-on for the guy. He KNEW it would be a bad idea for him to sit on the chair. And his mum made him a delicious goodbye dinner! Bless!

So far, I'm loving Carson, Teyla (who is also v. lickable), the two science guys who said "Look! Spaceships!" while they were exploring, and John. I'm regarding Elizabeth uncertainly, but she's better than expected. Ford is rather sweet. Rodney - well, I have this big crush on Rodney based on the fiction, and it's difficult to look at him afresh. In the pilot, we don't really get to see enough Rodney, but the glimpses of pissiness are very endearing. Also, I still want to lick him.

But Carson! Man, he's just lovely! And of course I know that he's going to snog Rodney in Season 2! Which is just SPLENDID.

eta The Wraith? Are ridiculous. Which is a bit problematic.

And poor Dogget. He just has NO luck with aliens.

Carson - yes, I remember that as being such a pleasant surprise in the pilot. I adored him. I always liked Rodney's character, so that was easy. Actually took me a while to warm up to Shep (though I have now). Teyla on the other hand... very late in S1 before I started to warm to the character (nothing against the actress; just didn't groove on the character).

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Teyla was badly handled by the writing staff, I think, for most of the season: she comes across as a bizarre mixture of Zhaan (zen serene alien) and Worf (exotic alien warrior) and Seven of 9 (beautiful alien female confused by humanity). But they gave her some meat at the end of the season, and I liked what she got to do in ep 201, even if it jossed my cool story. Them's the breaks.

I do think she's remarkably pretty, and I was shocked to see Rachel Luttrell actually has very dark hair naturally, in the pictures from Comic-Con. Is she in a wig during shooting, then?

Oh, speaking of Comic-Con, the pictures of Amanda Tapping? She looks gorgeous and about ten years younger. Pregnancy has been very good to her. Bless.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

So, just watched 2nd episode, with Rodney being Invulnerable. Feeling the Rodney love here. Still liking John much more than I expected to, though - he's so not-bullshitty. And generally not patronising to kids, which is good.

...I do wish that the Athosians were all the same physical type. It's just bugging me that they're clearly NOT the same race of people, when within the context of their story they pretty much should all be mixed-race, surely? If you've got such a limited gene pool you're all going to be related and you're all going to thus look kinda samey. Or am I missing something?

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Nope. Welcome to Stargate.
