Thrive to spite them

His parents when they were setting up a museum display with big stone ... columns I think....when something happened and the columns fell squishing his parents.

Daniel witnessed the whole thing.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Oh! Oh dear. Was he a grownup Daniel at the time, or a wee!traumatised!Daniel?

And where do we know this from?

(...shit, I'm SO going to end up buying SG1 Box sets for seasons 1-7 from ebay, aren't I?)

If I only had a brain...

You know, The Unfortunate Squishing Event is nearly as good as the Defenestration of Prague.

He was wee tramuatised Daniel.

He was 8 yrs old when it happened. He was put in foster care.

I'm not sure when all the details come out.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I liked the piano piece Starbuck played at her place, but it felt kind of instrusive at the end when it was repeated.

Someone on TWoP identified it as a Philip Glass piece.

as for BSG, are there any zombie episodes i should know about?

No zombies. Just killer robots.

::blows nose::

Aw, bless. Damn. There's no wonder the bloke gets so woobified in fic. Jings. He didnt have an Evil Relative named Count Olaf who might have just happened to be lurking around near the large and unfortunately somewhat unstable antiquities, did he?

All is well that ends in pizza.

It was a weak link in the chain setting a capstone on some pillars. Chain broke, multiple ton stone falls....

OTOH? What kind of idiots stand under a 50 ton stone when it is being lowered, anyway.

Daniel Jackson became an orphan via the Darwin effect. Well, semi Darwin, as they did have the one offspring.

Daniel, you're a hard man.

suspects Dan of secretly being Count Olaf

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

We get to see the Unfortunate Squishing Incident in Gamekeeper, which is an early S2 episode. And I have to say, I'm pretty much completely with Daniel on this one; do not stand under the multi-ton rock while it is being lowered. Daniel's lack of self-preservation instincts is clearly genetic. (And you know it really is kind of funny, in an awful way. He was orphaned by a museum display, people.)

If you want more Poor Wee Daniel, you go to Crystal Skull, in which you meet the Grandfather Who Didn't Want Him and refused custody. (Meanie.)
