I just picked up SG-1, and I'm a thrown. Isn't everybody a bit informal for a military base? I don't think I saw Cameron throw one salute, even when he met his CO.
Boxed Set, Vol. II: "It's a Cookbook...A Cookbook!!"
A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
That's par for the course--they're a pretty informal bunch.

I think maybe they didn't want to scare the long-time viewers. It's been years since the fact that the SGC is a military base has really been an issue. They established it early on as such, and then went off to do more interesting things. Having people saluting every five minutes would get really wearing when you're used to your characters not bothering, I think. Though it wouldn't be an episode unless someone said "Sir, with all due respect..." at least once.

I love BSG with an (un)holy love. I love the characters (pretty much all of them except Ellen Tigh, Gaius, and Six), love that we have no clue who's in the right. I think the actors are doing a bang-up job. I like that even minor charactors like Cally have layers. I love the gender role stuff, and that can be a make or break for me. I was on the edge of my seat for most of 33, and KLG. I like that they didn't neatly resolve the cliffhangers from KLG pt. 2 in Scattered.
Y'all can have Jamie Bamber's arms; I'll take Katee's arms, shoulders, and the curve of her lower back.
Of course, I've never seen a single ep of either Stargate. Or Farscape.

33 absolutely hooked me. I thought the mini was fine... figured I'd give the show a watch, what with it being right there on Friday with the Gates, but I wasn't expecting to fall for it. Then that ep was just so tight and suspenseful, an order better than than the mini - I kind of figured I was hooked, and it turns out I was right.
It still took me a while to warm up to some of the characters, like Starbuck and Apollo, which is kind of funny. And the Caprica stroyline did get a little draggy for me. But the overall storytelling interested me from the outset. And I liked Roslin and Adama from the get-go, too, which helped. And the Baltar and Six interactions.

Stop that!
For the record, I'm blown away by Six.
I'm kinda' meh on the whole sexiness of Six, but I love the fact that she's so religious.
Which I suppose is weird, given that I'm an atheist who's attracted to women.

Nor have I.

Same here! That episode was so much better than the mini, it gave me hope. I think I became really hooked by the "Act of Contrition"/"You Can't Go Home Again" two-parter.

Yeah, that was my least favorite thing about the first season.

I think she's sexy, but not extremely pretty. But she's one of my favorite characters, which is weird considering I'm of the camp who believe that Baltar's Six is only in his head.
I believe that Gaius thinks she's sexy, which is really what's most important. Well, and that she herself is a happily sexual creature.
Mostly I just think the performance is creepy and charismatic.

Completely agree.
On the upside about Caprica, though, I suspect having Starbuck there now will liven things up. Heh. I still laugh every time I think of "Bitch took my ride." That was just such a great delivery.
