Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Huh. You make her sound hella sexy.

I think maybe it's just that the Playboy Bunny drag jars for me, and undermines the fact that she's all Sigourney-in-Alien-4. I think she's interesting, and scary, and all that good stuff. Hmm.

By and large, though, isn't she still mostly in seduction mode?

I think she actually passed seduction a long time ago. He's seduced. But, yeah, she still has sex with him, and sure it's a weapon in the arsenal. I also think they'd have us believe she has (whatever passes for it in the Cylon mind) a personal interest in him - she has demonstrated displeasure with his attraction to Starbuck. 'Course, that could be for any number of reasons.

But in the end, no, I don't think sexual seduction is primarily what she's using to drive him to do what she wants anymore. I think he's driven by fear and his Chosen One Complex, and probably a bit of just... curiosity. None of which, to my mind, are part of the sexpot thing. And, I mean, I'm not sure threatening someone with death is any better than seducing them. If you're following the "How to Win Minions and Influence Evildoers" handbook, it's probably an ends justify the means, so whatever works kind of thing.

She hones in on the most expediently exploited weaknesses, which is what she needs to do to get her wish list filled.

I'm still appalled by the orange thing Katee Sackhoff is wearing. Oy.

Oooh, I get to rewatch Letters from Pegasus tonight!

one week, one week!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

It charms me to see her look both girly & dorky.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

The "top story" in tomorrow's Salon is an article on BSG. (I haven't read it yet.)

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Be warned that there appear to be spoilers for the S2 premiere in there. (I looked away after the first sentence, so I can't be sure.)

You know, I don't think of Starbuck as particularly androgynous. Butch, sure, I'll go for that, but no one is going to look at her and wonder whether she's male or female.

yeah, that was my response, too, Katie. She's hardly androgynous.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Yeah, when I think of androgynous I picture Jonathan Rhys Myers and Toni Collette side-by-side with the same haircut in Velvet Goldmine, and me being uncertain which is which.

Starbuck's a tough broad, but her actual gender is never in doubt.

Ever fired your gun in the air and yelled, 'Aaaaaaah?'

I caught BSG during the Wed. marathon. I am now completely in love and can't wait for the premiere. Why did I wait so long to watch this?

Some massively spoilery SG-1 and Atlantis interviews. [link]

Could someone please organise for David Hewlett to fill me with his babies? Thanks.
