Yes! Fay! I shall be going Luxor at the beginning of June. And we're really hoping that we'll manage to get a few days in Cairo too. I'm so massively excited. And hoping against hope that I get to Cairo to meet you. And also the cheesy cheesy themeparky restauranty place.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Luxor is my favourite bit of Egypt - if you can possibly wrangle an affordable hot air balloon ride, do it. Definitely. It is SO worth it. Depending on where the wind takes you, you could float over the Valley of the Kings, the Collosi of Memnon, the Temple of Karnak, the Temple of Hatshepsut...it's unbelievably cool. Hod Hod Travel are good, I've been with them twice and they're very professional.

It would be way cool if you managed to make it up here.

That hot air balloon ride sounds like fun.

I want to go on it!

Okay, the hot air balloon sounds freaking fabulous. All my plans for budgeting are just going to go flying out the window, aren't they?

Well, everything's cheap here, so budgeting shouldn't be hellish. But the hot air balloon ride is TOTALLY worth splashing out on. You can live on beans on toast for a month, if need be - how the hell often do you get an opportunity to see the sun rise over Luxor from a frigging hot air balloon? Fabulous.

Also? Do Luxor Temple before Karnak. Definitely. Luxor is fucking AMAZING, but Karnak is on a much grander scale.

A couple of words of Arabic will get you a long way with the people who are trying to sell you stuff.

A good natured "La, shukran" (no thankyou) with a smile is the way to go. "Ana mish eisa," (I don't want) will ensure they believe you. Er. And I'll stop now before I descend into an impromptu Arabic lesson.

Er. And I'll stop now before I descend into an impromptu Arabic lesson.

Em, please to not. I'd appreciate all the help I can get. I haven't really put any thought into getting organised or anything. I sort of booked on an impulse, accidentally on purpose. I think I'll have to invest in a guidebook sometime soon.

If I do manage to get to Cairo, are there any treats you'd like that you can't get over there?

OK, I just saw my first picture of David Tennant, the New Doctor Who.

He's what, 15 years old?

I know! And yet, he's in his 30s.

Well, possibly 30.

Well, possibly 30.

34. And the youngest actor ever cast for that role.

Huh, so it's a Groundhog's Day/Pocket of Time scenario.

And Clark must be ditching school.

Again.

And I hope I didn't frell my Lost/Alias tape -- I accidentally changed the channel -- just for a second from 3 to 4. I hate when stuff like that happens.
