I don't know all the specifics of the Terri Schiavo case, I certainly think it's a terrible situation for all the people involved, so I don't have a definite opinion on what should be done. However, I just don't think it's the place of the state and federal government to get involved in a single case. That's what the court system is for, so a decision can rendered after a presentation of the facts. Personally, I don't like the idea of being kept alive in a vegatative state year after year, but that's not my call to make in this case.

Thrive to spite them
Yesterday I saw some people on a main street corner with a huge sign that said FEED TERRI Impeach Greer. and there's some guy with a van painted with all kinds of religous end time/right to life/save Terri stuff on it.
I feel callous, but I'm sick of this. The state has better things to do and if it were a Democratic Gov and President pulling the stunts that Jeb and W are pulling I'm sure the Right would be throwing fit. What happened to a small, less intruisive government?

There are a news article and an editorial about this very issue in the Times today. Various Republicans muttering, "Wait, wait, we did what now?" (Christopher Shays (CT) and Mark Warner (VA) being two who voted against the bill.)
I was expecting a civil war to break out in the Republican party eventually, but I thought it would be over money -- budget, taxes all that stuff.

Duke sucks blue eggs, or something. A dear friend played football for Duke. He was the very definition of chauvinistic brain dead jock. He did an amazing turn around after college and is a nice human now.
