"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

It was some not-north-east fast food joint that had a cup with sausage and eggs and cheese and maybe grits.

Heh. "This is the best Pizza In A Cup I ever had!"

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Ellen's not only incredibly funny, she's just ridiculously kind as well.

Oh she is. She is one of the most generous people I ever met. On the second anniversary of the 9/11 attacks I had ZERO money to leave town (it's my birthday, I don't stick around) and she insisted I was coming to Boston. She sent me a bus ticket, put me up, got me a pass to her favorite museum, threw me a party...

Boy did I need that trip. Not only to have a good birthday but in general at that time. She saw that and she (along with the rest of the Sommervillians) saw to it that I experienced one of the funnest, warmest, most mellow, happy weekends I've ever had.

Now I'm tearing up.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

All this reminds me that I promised to get together for a movie with her soon! Not that I needed much of a reason to call!

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Which fast food joint had that breakfast in a cup?

Are you thinking of Krystal's breakfast in a bowl? [link]

Krystal tends to get a little wacky every time it strays from its strengths: little square hamburgers, fried things and being open at midnight for people with the munchies.

Ellen's not only incredibly funny, she's just ridiculously kind as well.

She sent me, for no reason at all other than the goodness of her heart, a box full of jigsaw puzzles, two books (one of them was a book I hadn't read before by a writer I'd previously mentioned that I'd loved), and kosher cookies. Emily, let's not forget, included a book of her own in that package, too.

It's either a Sommervillian thing or a Buffista thing (Allyson's amazing initiative was a year and a day ago).

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Hi, Nilly!

Yeah, I heard an ad for their black angus burgers a while back, and thought to myself "People who want quality lean beef are not picking Krystal as their first choice. You're the first choice of poor college students who've been hitting the books until the wee hours or people who need greasy food to settle their stomachs after a bender."
