Uh, are we gonna fight, or is there just gonna be a monster sarcasm rally?

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

OTOH, you can find bastions of likemindedness even in places with a rep for not. You just have to hold your nose at the fed your place elects. See- Chapel Hill or my friend's home in Boise.

Yeah, I've been doing just that in Chapel Hill and Durham -- places that are tiny blue dots in a sea of NC red -- for (counts on fingers. continues to toes and beyond) 22 years now. It can be done. But I'm tired of it. And I figure, since I have to look elsewhere to find the job I want, I might as well find the larger community I want as well. Since I'm gonna be paying for a moving van either way.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Go Canada, choose Canada!

But not Calgary.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Wait, what? Where'd our cranky sarapants go??

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I just saw the weirdest custom car. It was a mid-'80s Cutlass (the rear-drive one, not the front-drive Cutlass Ciera). It had a TV screen in the dash, and another one where the front passenger visor would be. There was a third LCD TV screen hanging from the ceiling for the rear passengers. And where you might expect to see rear-passenger headrests, there were two more TV screens, facing out the back window.

I mean, WTF? Is this some ride-pimpage trend I'm not familiar with?

I'm glad! And I'm not trying to blow gloom and doom on you or anyone else. I'm really not fleeing NC just because it has a large conservative population. It's more a case of, since I'm going anyway I might as well try for everything I could want in an area.

Go Canada, choose Canada!

It's on the list, believe me. Well, BC and sections of Ontario are. There's that pesky work visa issue, but I'm hoping that if an employer really wants me s/he'll help out on that.

She has booze and is determinedly ignoring everything else in her life.

Also, I've got this contrarian streak that makes me argue. Especially when I see doom&gloom. Drives my dad batfuck. Which is probably where it comes from. I just want everyone to get aloooong and be friendly and be convinced by me.

Or something.

Now tagless for your comfort.

What are people's weekend plans?

I'm going to see Bat Boy: The Musical in Canton tomorrow night. There might be drinking involved.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

She has booze and is determinedly ignoring everything else in her life.
