Ex-Marine Says Public Version of Saddam Capture Fiction
I tend to be a little skeptical by anything published in the Saudi press since all the papers are controlled by the government. Three years ago another Saudi daily, Al-Riyadh, published an actual blood libel. That's not to say the story isn't accurate or that Al-Medina (the paper that printed the story) isn't a legitimate paper. But I have to wonder why this particular marine hasn't been interviewed by any U.S. journalists.
Happy birthday, tommyrot!!

I think that's sound skepticism.
And yet, I also find myself skeptical of the "official" US version of any events in the war over there, particularly the media spectacles like Jessica Lynch or Saddam's capture.

I'm a little skeptical of this story too. For one thing, why make up a different capture story? The guy was still captured and I don't see what it would gain to have this other story.
Wolfram! Hi. It's nice to see you.
I forgot to wish tommyrot the happiest of birthdays!!
And, with even more good news, they just announced that Oak Park (where both ChiKat and I live--howdy, neighbor!) is getting a Trader Joe's (at the corner of Harlem and Ontario, FYI). Finally!

It's almost as if you're implying government-sponsored press in wartime is unreliable... next you'll be telling me I can't believe everything I read on the internet.
Speaking of which, Blogs apparently not as widely read as all that.

Well it demoralizes SH and sends a message to the insurgents that their fearless leader was hiding in filth and squalor and not planning the great redemption.
Hi Cindy! I haven't really gone anywhere, I've merely started supporting myself in email.
Work, life, the usual reasons.
