Are you ready to be strong?

Ooh, what have you looked at so far, MFN?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

You shouldn't dress shop without Bluefly.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Hec, about what time do you expect to roll into LA?

I think we'll get out of SF between 2 and 3, so depending on how many highway patrolmen we see, between 8 and 9? I think. JZ's got her cell phone and if we look like we're going to deviate much from that, we'll give you forewarning.

Oooh, Hec, anything you've promised to send me but haven't gotten around to yet? Take it to Lee and have her bring it with her to me. Unless it's big. Because that would take up too much suitcase space and that's selfish of me.

No, it's smallish. I think Lee could squish it into her suitcase without compromising her footwear.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

I've tried on dresses from Casablanca, Lazaro, Mori Lee, Christina Wu, Demetrios, Maggie Sottero, Pronovias, and this afternoon I'm going to a trunk show for Rivini, but somehow I can't see spending thousands of dollars on a dress I'll wear for one day.

Ironically, the strapless ones are the ones that look best. I tried sleeves to hide the upper arms, but all that did was emphasize them or make me look matronly. I also discovered that champagne- or ivory-colored dresses compliment my complexion much better than any shade of white. Huh.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Yay! (Because, really, your trip to LA and Lee's Cross-Country Spring Break Extravaganza are ALL ABOUT ME.)

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

between 8 and 9.
Cool. I should be home by 7:00, so I'll even have time to vacuum.

I'm happy to transport stuff to Teppy. I'm taking a fair size suitcase as it is.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Here's a tale I heard this morning about the wedding industry.

My assistant is getting married in the fall. He called the hotel where they're having the reception saying that he was inquiring about planning a large business dinner rather than wedding (which he does do for the firm, but not in this case.) Price they quoted him - something like 30% less than what they're paying for the wedding. Nice. His rather aggressive future father-in-law has already called the hotel and shouted them into a rebate of about 8k.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

a kid in the hall just referenced The Karate Kid. How is that still a quotable movie to kids?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

But Kids In The Hall are so 90s.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

The Karate Kid

Maybe it has passed into overall pop culture awareness? I know a lot of Fast Times at Ridgemont High, despite my being seven years old when it was in theatres.

Cable: where mediocre movies go to become part of the collective unconscious.
