Cool. Except no Scream yet. Hopefully this theft is related to the earlier one, and The Scream will be recovered too.
Today I learned that Munch painted multiple copies of The Scream. The copy that was stolen in 1994 was a different copy than the one stolen last year (or whenever).
eta:
Pedersen and Stensrud said the two recent Munch thefts did not appear to be linked. "There are no grounds for assuming any connection between the thefts, but we will be talking to the Oslo police about it."
"It seems to be a fashion among criminals to steal Munch," the hotel owner Salbuvik said. "How professional is it to steal art? Great value, big risk and hard to sell. They would have to be very slow in the head to do it."
I just wanted to share that you can order cookies directly if you do not have a source 1-800 33-MINTS!
gee, msbelle really IS the NICEST!
Matt -- I thought you were supposed to hang them like a painting?
That's one option, but they also come with collapsible stands. And hanging on the wall would halve my effective "wall space" for the surrounding shelves of videotapes, as I now have the TV on a corner stand and the shelves arranged in an L shape to either side of it. I went with the precarious spacesaver option.
Have there been corresponding thefts of Klimt paintings?
BERLIN - A German man who went on holiday left his stereo and lights on so that his pet hamster would not feel lonely in the empty apartment, a police spokesman said on Monday after breaking into it over fears the man may have died.
The spokesman for police in Bremen said police broke open the door after being alerted by neighbors that loud music was playing non-stop for five days and the lights were left on. No one answered the door when they knocked, police said.
“There was a fear the occupant might have been disabled or dead,” a police spokesman said. “All we found was a pet hamster. The occupant was away on holiday. A friend of his arrived and said he left the music on so the hamster wouldn’t feel lonely.”
The spokesman said the friend of the occupant, who is still on holiday and not reachable, told police she visited every few days to feed the golden hamster food and provide water. She promised to turn the music down and come by more often.
The music was left blaring for five days straight? Someone must be made to suffer.
I guess some people just don't take other people into considereation at all....
Yes, but at least the hamster didn't suffer.
And I know I'll be odd girl out here, but I like Torrid. It's kinda fun.
I love Torrid -- I'm just sad that their spring line has the overall theme of Bright Ugliness (or, perhaps, Ugly Brightness).
Raise your hand if you think Aimee should bring me a cookie to make up for it.
If Aimee had cookies, she would bring. Alas, no cookies. However.....

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU, msbelle!! May all things come to you pink and sparkly.
Yes, but at least the hamster didn't suffer.
Well it depends on what kind of music was played....
And now we return to.... Music for Hamsters, by Brian Eno....
"Another Silly Hamster Song", by Paul McCartney and Wings.
