It really depends on the size of the charge, but shotguns tend to have bigger charges than rifles, at least until you get to military ammo.
eta: Not exactly right. It's both the size of the charge, and the size of the load, and shotguns tend to be bigger in both respects.

I have obtained a grown-up furniture. Proof of its grownupedness is (a) not from Thrift World; (b) requires actual screwdriver and hammer, not just enclosed Allen wrench, to assemble; (c) large enough to hold (some) actual clothes.
