When it comes to kitchen gadgets (or frankly, any gadget) I am a make-do improviser. I cooked for the first year here pretty much with one pot, one pan, 2 settings of silverware and 2 knives (paring and serated.) My ancient microwave dial gets stuck if over 4 minutes. That's fine, I just use it in 4 minute intervals. A one-size-fits-all pot lid. Hand mixer, yeah. My grandmother's blender- collects dust. Toaster? Collects cat hair. I do have a small chopper, as well as a manual one because of the torment of onions. Works well on fresh herbs too. I have a bunch of weird kitchen implents my mom gets me because they are weird. Oh, I have a ladle now. Before, I just used a coffee mug or measuring cup.

Mister Kitty is being a total shit tonight. Knocking breakable stuff off shelves. I moved the bookcase away from the breakables and he was doing crazy contortions to reach them. He knows he's being a shit too. Twit.
Sounds like Amarna last night--she was knocking everything she could off of the computer hutch, tried like hell to reach the vase I have on the bookshelf (juuuust out of her reach, thank goodness), and then went over to the dining room table where I had put the glass cleaner and paper towel and attacked the paper towel roll (ripping holes into the towel with her teeth, unravelling it until it fell onto the floor).
Yeah, he's on the counters now. And I'm yelling at him. He just LOOKS at me.
Devi pulls this all the time, but then she is a little shit (adorable, but bratty.) Him, nsm.
New downstairs neighbor probably thinks ww3 is going on up here. Keys hitting the floor? Really obnoxious.
I'm with juliana and Jess on my Foreman grill, for pretty much the reasons Jess states -- I have little countertop, and I just use a skillet to cook anything I'd cook on the FG anyway.
For kitchen gadgets, I've got a Foreman grill, a toaster, an immersion blender, a food processor, and a rice cooker. I could probably get rid of the rice cooker -- I bought it when I was in college and didn't have regular access to an actual kitchen -- but still use it sometimes, when I'm cooking things in all three pots I own and still want to have rice. I also don't use the immersion blender that often, but it's worth it for the times when I do. I hate cleaning it, though.
The grill, I use for grilling tofu and eggplant and peppers and other veggies and stuff. I like that it's relatively self-contained -- I can use it without having to deal with too many utensils, and it doesn't use up any more counter space than a broiler pan set on a hot plate would.
So the OC is not new, huh. Also, zap2it HATES me. Always. I give up on it.
Microwave gets used all the time, toaster occasionally, and steamer I don't use a hell of a lot but I love it when I do. I've been thinking about a GF because I love the grilled cheese but I hate making them in a pan. Oh, and the espresso machine is an every day. I've gotten rid of any other kitchen appliances I might once have had.
The OC better not be new, becaue it's not even on here.

::sniff sniff:: Such a big boy now... remember when he seasoned with mold? t /all nostalgic
I'm making cheese quesadillas on my skillet RIGHT NOW!
Okay, it's only a step up from microwavable food, but there you go.
