45ft faces. Which if you are using Hawaii wave measuring protocol (measuring the backs), only counts as about 25 ft waves. Not like they still can't kill you.

I really can't wrap my brain around anyone calling ita "Gidget". At all. I think my brain my be broken after the attempt.
Maybe she could be Undercover Gidget:Kicking Ass in Capri Pants
Noone *calls* her Gidget, it's her alter ego.
I really can't wrap my brain around anyone calling ita "Gidget".
Why on earth not? She's spunky, blond, and cute as a button!

But still! See, while I think the concept of ocean and waves is really cool, you put me on a shoreline and there is this quiet little urge to CLIMB SOMETHING TALL NOW. Or, maybe not so quiet, just not debilitating. I'm a desert mountaindweller. I see all that freaking water and start wondering if it is going to swallow my head. And it seems like the horizon is higher than me. Or just too high. Which makes the lizardbrain convinced it is going to swallow my head.
So then you add 25 feet? Eeeps.
::hugs Jesse hard::
I think I should start hanging out on the beach all the time.
A fluffy Gidget bunny?
I just can't do it. I can't. I'm going to be in LA next month. She'll find me.
ETA: ita, you are totally blonde and spunky and cute. That's not the issue. It's just actually being brave enough to call you Gidget.
Big churny hungry ocean. Plus cold, and sharks. I'd be afeared, too.
ita's true genius: knowing exactly the thing that will scare each person most.
Lots of great pictures in today's SFGate article on the Mavericks surf contest.
Huh. Looking at those pictures just reminded me that last night I dreamt about being on a beach on the Pacific with really frickin' huge (although probably less than tsunami-size) waves barrelling toward me.
Have to say -- slightly less restful than a wave machine.
