t Skipping hunderds of posts
When I logged in this morning, and saw the huge number of posts that accumulated since I last skipped (I am very strict about doing my skipping every morning, no matter how much time I'm (not) going to have to goof off during the following day), I thought at first that something happened. Of course, I completely forgot about the Oscars, and I'm very thankful for the Buffistas for providing me with a lovely snarky skimmage.
I've only seen "Neverland", pretty much, and I loved it and it made me cry (not even in the sense of "eyes full of tears" but in the "tears all over my cheeks" sort of sense). I didn't care it used nearly every cliche there is regarding its topics - there's a reason cliches became cliches, and for me the movie touched something that's beyond the "been there, said that", as evident from the tears, I suppose. And that's the one movie-related thing I can say, so my humble contribution to the former-topic.
vw, thanks for posting your paper! It's downloaded and will definitely be read, once I can actually read something and not skim over it wishing I could sink in deeper. And lots of wishes for the continuation of the project.
As for the weather, it's absolutely gorgeous outside. Whenever I have to go to another building or run an errand, I'm kicking myself for not being able to take my computer off the wall that has the electricity on it and just go work outside. All of you with the unwelcome-snow and the rain are definitely invited.
[Edited to pretend I can spell]
I skipped Oscar posts, because I skipped the Oscars, because I'd seen just about none of the movies involved. (And don't feel bad about that, either.) This all did not stop my mother from calling at 111:45 to ask me what I thought of the Oscars, at which point I was forced to shatter her illusions of me as a pop culture maven by confessing I'd spent the whole evening watching Animal Planet and balancing my checkbook.
I had no dogs in this Oscar race, so figured I would just check the results and the Buffista snarkage afterwards...sad that my days of being Pop Culture Girl are over. But I blame the Academy, since it's been quite a while since they and I saw eye-to-eye.
Off to try to find briquettes, and possibly lighter fluid, as I'm sick of non-grilled steaks.
It's starting to snow. Raquel, I think you picked a good winter to move to the Mediterranean. Because while it isn't 4 ft shut down the city snow, I am really sick of several of inches of snow every week.
Hey ita, did you know Summerland comes back tonight? Can't decide if I want to snark at it or not....
What was the what with Sean Penn? I fell asleep, and the comments are intriguing, but not revealy enough.
Chris Rock joked, "Who the hell is Jude Law? He was in every movie I saw last year. Even when he wasn't *in* the movie you'd read the credits and it would say: Cupcakes by Jude Law."
So when Sean Penn came on to make a presentation he said, "I apologize for being so humorless, but with all due respect Mr. Rock, Jude Law is one of our finest actors."
It was both humorless (as he noted) and sort of endearingly loyal. And I don't even recall the two of them working together, so it seemed out of professional respect.
Nilly, you are so me wrt Finding Neverland. Last night, people were asking about it, and all I could say was that by the end, tears were streaming, but I was grinning like a fool. Mmm. Loved that.

Aw, they've come so far!
Hec I think Sean is currenently working on a project with Jude, but i don't know what it is.
Well, that's a relief.
Ray
was the only movie I had seen, although I will see most of them in time. I watched for the clothes and to see how Chris did.
Chris Rock did not rock, which made me sad.
The audience should have been quiet while Yo-Yo Ma did his thing.
If you can't walk in heels wear flats.
Big sigh of relief that
Aviator
didn't get the big prize.
Alas, I fell asleep and missed most of the last hour due to it being past my bedtime.
Antonia sweety, I love you, but I must insist on giving you a shampoo before the hot monkey sex.
This concludes my Oscar review.
Chris Rock did not rock, which made me sad.
I thought his stuff on Bush was funny.
I split a bottle of wine with a friend last night. Now I have a headache. Serves me right for drinking on a school night.
Didn't Jude Law get the short end of the stick in Chris Rock's "movie star vs. popular person" thing?
