Just heard from my mom that my 13-year-old nephew was in the ER all night, getting his hand stitched up. How did he cut his hand, you might ask? He was slicing up a banana with two large knives in an "Iron Chef" imitation, complete with narration. The doctor in the ER found this just as hilarious as the rest of the family does.

Well, considering Yiddish isn't written in the same alphabet as English, there really isn't a Yiddish spelling that can be typed here. I'm pretty sure that the YIVO spelling (which is the standardized transliteration system usually used for academic stuff, but not generally observed elsewhere) is tokhes, but I'm sure there are at least five other commonly-used ones.
Can any LAista or person familiar with said city tell me what there is to do around Union Station. I'm meeting a slightly neurotic family member there this afternoon, and I'd rather we not wing it too much.
