Skin
My skin has been slowly transformed over the years; but my scars all commemorate trivia, not trauma. Spilled soup made the burn mark on my chest. The permanently smashed kneecap was the result of a fall off a ladder while changing a light bulb. The gouges above my ankles were made by close encounters with dishwasher doors and other major appliances. My fingers were sliced by various knives aimed at fish and vegetables. My face contains permanent records of shaving accidents. I occasionally consider getting a tattoo that simply reads "klutz", but I always decide that it would be redundant.[Edit: Thanks DCP]
A propos of the discussion in Bitches today, that one made me LOL.
All of the drabbles for Deena's topic have been great!
If anyone else has something they'd like to use as a prompt, please let me know.
Have now skimmed rather than skipped that discussion. In context of that discussion isn't "made me LOL" now Bitchspeak for "I found it really repulsive"? [Er being funny. I'm know if that is what you wanted to say, that is not how you would tell me.]
Nah, I just meant that I don't use LOL unless an actual laughing noise made it past my lips!
The transformation challenge is now closed. Thanks for a great topic suggestion, Deena.
This week's challenge is animated or automated. (please interpret that however you want)
Happy Feet
She heard the ball land on the floor with a wet smack. Turning around, she saw him standing there, hands spread across the lattice of the childproof gate like starfish crawling along the seafloor. Bouncing on his feet a little, he tipped his head back and gave her a wide, not-very-toothy, smile. This was a game they played whenever she washed the kitchen floor. He wasn’t allowed in while she cleaned, but when she was done he got a reward from the cookie jar. It had become automatic. She heard his squeal on her way to open the penguin, “Tookie!”
Very nice!
