I don't seem to have the knack for issuing drabble challenges, so passing the match on to whoever wants to take it up, in hopes they will use it to light a torch.
The Great Write Way, Chapter Two: Twice upon a time...
A place for Buffistas to discuss, beta and otherwise deal and dish on their non-fan fiction projects.
It's not you, it's me. Haven't got drabble -fu lately.
I did one and it came out all weird. I've been meaning to try again but I went out of town.
Drabble topic for 8/27: On the Bus
My writing goal for the summer was to get 100 pages into my new manuscript and have the first 50 pages or so in good enough shape to send to my agent to show her what I was working on.
It seemed like an achievable goal until early July, when I realized I needed to start over. I'd started the story at the wrong place, I'd engaged in massive backstory dumps, etc. No way could I write 100 pages in less than two months, not when I'd been having so much trouble with the story, not when I was going down to Alabama for a week to help take care of Mom during her chemo, etc.
I just hit p. 100 with a week to spare. The second half is pretty rough in spots, but the first 40-50 pages are polished enough by early draft standards, so I'm going to email my agent tonight or tomorrow, as soon as I've got a rough synopsis ready.
I did it. I didn't think I had it in me.
Congrats, Susan! That's really fantastic work.
oh my ... the drabble topic ... we had an emergency last night - smoke in various stations closed down stations on four of the five Metro lines, so they were using buses to shuttle people around the closed stations. Then one of the buses CAUGHT FIRE. Right downtown, close to my office (although I wasn't there late Sunday).
I'm being interviewed by Sally Jessy Raphael at 8:30am PST.
That seems to be a listen live link for those interested!
Eeep! Knock'em, dead, paperdol!
And go you, Susan!
Drabble topic? I, um, er. Gots nuthin, sorry.
Whoa!
That's excellent.
