Death is your art. You make it with your hands day after day. That final gasp, that look of peace. And part of you is desperate to know: What's it like? Where does it lead you? And now you see, that's the secret. Not the punch you didn't throw or the kicks you didn't land. She really wanted it. Every Slayer has a death wish. Even you.

The Great Write Way, Chapter Two: Twice upon a time...

A place for Buffistas to discuss, beta and otherwise deal and dish on their non-fan fiction projects.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

I'm not, but some of my class is. If they weren't, I might have.

Thrive to spite them

I'm doing it! I'm writing fanfic. Really really bad fanfic on the theory that it would be easier to write crap. except I keep wanting to go and research stuff.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I'm doing NaNoWriMo! Except I... haven't actually registered yet. I'm writing science fiction porn, on the theory of writing what you know.

What is even happening?

Kristen just posted the following in Minearverse, but I figured I'd bring it over here, for those of you who don't go there:

Also, for any aspiring tv writer types, it seems that NBC is doing a new writers outreach program this year. (I'm assuming it's new since this is the first time I've heard of it.) It seems to be a bit like the Warner Bros. Workshop.

The deadline is November 17. More info here.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I was considering doing Nanowrimo, but it is already four days in, so I am not so sure.

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

SMP just bought New-Slain Knight.

The deadline is 15 January. I need to write about 63K words by 15 January.

And Kate wants to start shopping Seven Women to possible publishers as a finished manuscript around March or early April, to coincide with the release of Daymond's non-fiction book, Display of Power.

That one needs another 80K or so words.

I need to write 145K or so of saleable fiction, in two completely different genres and in two completely different voices, between now and spring. Kill me. Please kill me.

I am not doing NaNoWriMo.

Just thought I'd stick my head in. How is everyone?

(paragraph edited for redundancy - not in here much and tend to forget stuff)

Back to work. 63K words. 15 January.

Please don't let this all suck.

move out and draw fire

For the "Things That Go Bump In the Night" drabble: --------------------

THUMP!

Ididn'treallyhearthatIcanstayasleep

THUMP!

She might go back to sleep if I don't respond.

THUMP! "Aaaaah!"

She can't do consonants, but that's her call for me. I sigh and swing my legs out of bed, trudging into the next room. I totally know how to do this without really waking up. There's enough moonlight to see by. I pick the bottle up off the nightstand. "Are you thirsty?"

"Uhh." She can use straws, which is nice. I cradle her in my arms and hold the bottle for her while she drinks and drinks, then pulls away.

"Do you want any more?" A sharp shake of her head sends the headboard into the wall again: THUMP! I make sure she's covered and head back to bed.

I wonder - when she can no longer move her head or make a sound, how will my mother call for my help?
