The Great Write Way, Chapter Two: Twice upon a time...
A place for Buffistas to discuss, beta and otherwise deal and dish on their non-fan fiction projects.
When will you know about Nic's interview result? IE, you should know by now, yes?
He still hasn't rung home to let me know. The first round were supposed to go 4.5 hours; they went 5.5 hours because everyone loved him and more people wanted to talk with him.
This one - so far as either of us knew - was going to be the one on one with the VP of marketing. It began at 1:30. It's now not quite five.
I am choosing to interpret this positively, as in, they showed him the facility and bought him lunch. Of course, that interpretation does mean that, if I'm wrong and the interview lasted eleven minutes and he just wandered off and is browsing a bookstore, I am going to beat him to death with one of my larger pieces of All-Clad stainless.
Gah. So much money on the line.
Must. BREATHE.
Will this be the one when they say "You're in"?
Will this be the one when they say "You're in"?
Nic's, you mean? That's what we both thought. But at this point, who knows? The ways of business are mysterious....
Seriously, they need someone muy pronto and he spent 2.5 years working for their direct competition, a few years back. Should be a slam dunk.
Damn it. He can RING ME UP NOW.
She says it's probably a bit hardcore (shocked! I tell you, I am SHOCKED!)Hee! Your daughter knows where you spent the late 60s and first half of the 70s, yes?
Dear Jo,
Mum's probably going to yawn a lot.
Of course, that interpretation does mean that, if I'm wrong and the interview lasted eleven minutes and he just wandered off and is browsing a bookstore, I am going to beat him to death with one of my larger pieces of All-Clad stainless.
No jury of your peers would convict you.

Yes, and by the oddest coincidence, I'm listening to John Cipollina and Nick Gravenites and a few people including Who I Spent That Time With on Nice Piano, playing "I Did It For The Band". Already told Daymond, I am not shockable with sex. Cruelty, stupidity, malice, those can shock me. Sex? Puhleeeeeze.
No jury of your peers would convict you.
He doesn't phone me soon, we may put that to the test.
Memo to my Haunted Ballads WIP readers: first third of Chapter One of N-SK going out shortly.
update: Nic just got home. VP of Marketing drove in from Napa to talk with him. 3.5 hours with the honchos. Apparently a Very Big Deal.
Now we wait. Looks to be 95% positive. Only thing even remotely likely to bump it would be a superman candidate who also worked for their competition for 2.5 years. Not likely, but I'll celebrate when it's an offer on paper.
Hoo boy.
Missed SO MUCH while I was in Arizona! It was 110 degrees there yesterday when I left, and in MO, it is about 80 and raining. I am so HAPPY to smell rain!
Deb, can't wait for updates on how everything is going!
Erika, congratulations! So cool!
BTW, Sail and -t....I was wondering if y'all ever got a chance to beta the stuff I sent you a couple of weeks ago? I haven't really written anything since then, since I have been out of town pretty much for the last solid week, but I am curious.
I'll have to go back and reread, Erin. I didn't make any notes at the time and now I can't remember if there was anything I thought could be a significant problem. To be honest, if I don't answer right away when you send me stuff, it's because there's nothing that jumps right out at me as being off in any way.
What Sail said. I'll reread to be sure, though.
Oh, not so much proofing, guys -- I'm interested more in "Didja like the story?"
Sorry. Travel makes me stupid. And my neck hurts.
