Buffy: So how'd she get away with the bad mojo stuff? Anya: Giles sold it to her. Giles: Well, I didn't know it was her. I mean, how could I? If it's any consolation, I may have overcharged her.

What is even happening?

She says it's probably a bit hardcore (shocked! I tell you, I am SHOCKED!)
Hee! Your daughter knows where you spent the late 60s and first half of the 70s, yes?

Dear Jo,

Mum's probably going to yawn a lot.

Of course, that interpretation does mean that, if I'm wrong and the interview lasted eleven minutes and he just wandered off and is browsing a bookstore, I am going to beat him to death with one of my larger pieces of All-Clad stainless.

No jury of your peers would convict you.

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

Yes, and by the oddest coincidence, I'm listening to John Cipollina and Nick Gravenites and a few people including Who I Spent That Time With on Nice Piano, playing "I Did It For The Band". Already told Daymond, I am not shockable with sex. Cruelty, stupidity, malice, those can shock me. Sex? Puhleeeeeze.

No jury of your peers would convict you.

He doesn't phone me soon, we may put that to the test.

Memo to my Haunted Ballads WIP readers: first third of Chapter One of N-SK going out shortly.

update: Nic just got home. VP of Marketing drove in from Napa to talk with him. 3.5 hours with the honchos. Apparently a Very Big Deal.

Now we wait. Looks to be 95% positive. Only thing even remotely likely to bump it would be a superman candidate who also worked for their competition for 2.5 years. Not likely, but I'll celebrate when it's an offer on paper.

Hoo boy.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Missed SO MUCH while I was in Arizona! It was 110 degrees there yesterday when I left, and in MO, it is about 80 and raining. I am so HAPPY to smell rain!

Deb, can't wait for updates on how everything is going!

Erika, congratulations! So cool!

BTW, Sail and -t....I was wondering if y'all ever got a chance to beta the stuff I sent you a couple of weeks ago? I haven't really written anything since then, since I have been out of town pretty much for the last solid week, but I am curious.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

I'll have to go back and reread, Erin. I didn't make any notes at the time and now I can't remember if there was anything I thought could be a significant problem. To be honest, if I don't answer right away when you send me stuff, it's because there's nothing that jumps right out at me as being off in any way.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

What Sail said. I'll reread to be sure, though.

Oh, not so much proofing, guys -- I'm interested more in "Didja like the story?"

Sorry. Travel makes me stupid. And my neck hurts.

Oh, in that case, yup. But I'll reread anyway so I can give you a little more detail.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

I've been writing drabbles too long. I'm straing at this paper that needs to be 750 words thinking to myself, "But I can make my point in 100 words or less!! This goes against my recent rules of writing!!!"

Done deal.

Three-book high drama, men and women, sex for miles, hiphop setting and clubs and love and mistreatment and remorse and a shooting and a suicide....

ita! Juliana! Get your club gear out, bebes. Daymond's flying me down to LA and setting me up with VIP all-access, and oh, by the way "you wanna take some girlfriends in, right?" j, we'll need to get you down to LA. Good thing fares are cheap; we'll set up a hotel for us.

The deal is looking all the way sweet, by the way. 50-50 down the line, including all subsidiary stuff. My agents are the leads on this; his guy, out in Hollywood, will be taking it to the studios, and possibly HBO.

The logline? "Think Sex in the City, but hiphop, from the mens' perspective."

We talk again tomorrow, 1 pm our time. That's when I bring up coverage for the time I'm writing the first 35K words.

Meep.

And this is going to be soooooooooooo good for the Kinkaids.
