We killed a homeless man on this bench. Me and Dru. Those were good times. You know, he begged for mercy, and you know, that only made her bite harder.

Susan, break out the Sharpe dvds and get Jack's voice back.

Ah, yes. "Research."

What is even happening?

My editing process has slowed down this week what with all I have to do getting ready for the conference this weekend. Also, I'm having to rewrite one chapter completely, and since I just saw Serenity last night, Jack keeps wanting to talk like Mal.

Hee!

I'm a giant mimic like that, Susan. That is why I've not read Deb's book yet. Because I'll get this. "Who's British?"
"What?"
"Is he that Bennett guy?"
So I have read nothing but hardboiled books and "Practical Homicide" for about six weeks.

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

"Is he that Bennett guy?"

BWAH! "Good morning, Gordon."

edit: BTW, I'm a few steps closer to doing something as part of a mystery signing thing in Boston. May be January. Clea Simon's working on it - a place called Newtonville Books.

"No, as I understand it 'Gordon" is more of a "What?"
"What have I told you about that fanfic?"

I'm not in general, but Jack looks a good bit like NF, to the point that in Susan's Unreal Happy Fantasy World, NF would be my cover model instead of the bland, cheesey hunk of romance beefcake I'd inevitably get IRL. So he goes Mal on me in a hurry if I'm not careful.

Well, I do that a lot...I should have never tried to write anything while reading "Bridget Jones". It was painful. Had to kill it.

Does Jack have darker hair? In my head (and maybe there was description I've read that put it in my head) Jack is a little shorter, his hair is darker with somewhat more wave than NF's. His eyes are blue, but he has the same sort of features that NF has--that is to say he's a similar type.

Lighter hair, actually, more of a chestnut brown verging on auburn, and just as straight. He is shorter, for sure, and his eyes are light brown.

My other hero, James, had wavy black hair and blue eyes, though, so that may be whre that combo got into your head.
