Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

First round of proposals goes out on Monday to 15 publishers.

Then, we wait. I could go insane.

If I only had a brain...

Also, this was all before the mafia became, you know, The Mafia.

Really? When did The Mafia (TM) start?

Send me a postcard from insane, Allyson.

The modern version of the American Mafia grew from Lansky and Luciano's crime syndicate. You know, after he obliterated the old Sicilian mafia by killing everyone.

And YAY Allyson!

Not having has never been the thing I've regretted most in my life. Not trying is.

Yay, Allyson!!!

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

Allyson, is there room at insane? I need a place on that bench and will be happy to keep you company if you wish, while I a) wait for SMP to turn loose of money they owe me, and b) wait to hear anything at all back on either the paperback sale of Haunted Ballads or Lyssa Keusch's reaction to the Kinkaid Chronicles.

It's totally craxy-making.

I keep thinking that I've come this far, and everything has happened almost by magic what with having an agent contact me, and it all happening so quickly and goddamn I am fortunate...but then all the publishers could turn me down cold.

And then what will I do? Besides throw up a lot?

Then she'd send it out to 15 more publishers.

I know - it really is crazy-inducing.

Fucketyboo.

I am in crushland with this word, Deb. I don't know if I've ever seen you use it before, but I find it utterly charming.

Heh. I use it only rarely. It's when my basic profanity seems either too much, or else utterly insufficient.

And that's why it works! It's almost like you were saying, "fuck it--oops!" People can't get upset with anything ending in -boo.
