[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Safe deposit box. You *should* also keep passport and birth certificate, etc there.

SS card and birth certificate I understand, because they're so rarely used. But I can't be arsed to go to the bank every time I want to travel.

I have no clue where my SS card is. I know I got a replacement after we got married, but I have no idea where I put it. I think my parents have my birth certificate.

Thrive to spite them

After the show does the break in, they have their crew come in and clean everything up. Then they post security over night and the next day they install all kinds of home security improvements -- home security system, locks, new windows, ect. They also installed a safe that was bolted to the floor and that's where all the important documents and jewelry should be.

These women routinely left the doors open or unlocked and had sliding glass door without locks, etc.

After installing all that the show goes back later on to see if the security measures are being kept up.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

"It Takes a Theif" is good, but I saw something even better on some news show the other day. They got a guy who is a specialist in training people how to be safe when out, or something. Basically, he targeted young women in various places to "abduct" them. Some parents even set their kids up to be "abducted". It was scary. Most of the teenagers were ok - they didn't get into the car, etc. It was the adults that he was sucessful in "abducting".

Punishingly Intricate

However, if they try and move you anywhere, consider your life in jeopardy and act accordingly.

This is what I was taught as well.

I wouldn't want to have to depend on a weapon to defend myself not only because of the possibility of the attacker using it against me. I also don't want to have to think about where it is, how I will use it etc. when I'm in a situation where I have to act immediately in unfamiliar and traumatic circumstances.

and

my theory is, give them what they want, don't try to die protecting posessions.

heck yeah.

My body is my weapon.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

ETA context

Basically, he targeted young women in various places to "abduct" them. Some parents even set their kids up to be "abducted".

I'm sorry, that's fucked up. I don't care if it's "for my own good" or whatever, anyone who set me up for something like that would no longer be a part of my life.

These women routinely left the doors open or unlocked and had sliding glass door without locks, etc.

Where do they live, though? In some places that would be more of an issue than others.

"My drink preference does not indicate my sexual preference. "

My friend Phillip has a trailer home, and has had attempted robbery more times than he can count, but catches them nearly everytime with two simplethings. One, He has a bell on the door to wake him, two, he sleeps with a baseball bat, waits to the guy gets close....and WHAM!

One of the criminals tried to sue, saying Phillip caused permanent injury. To me, it seems you're a sad little man if you're suing the guy whose home you broke into.

Hi. I'm home. I stopped at CVS for Ginger Ale, crackers and soup. Soon for bed.

It totally is. But, the parents were right there, watching on monitors what was going on. Still, kinda fucked up. One teenager, I think she accepted a ride from a guy out in THE MIDDLE OF THE COUNTRY. If it hadn't been a set-up, she would be dead. And in that instance, if I was stupid enough to have gotten in the car and it was a set up, I'd learn real quick.
