I need carpet in the kitchen. We have tile in the whole house with rugs here and there, but alas none in the kitchen. I have broken 3 bowls in the last 2 days. Nothing survives a drop to tile. Also, standing on tile for long periods of time while cooking bothers my body.

My kitchen floor has cheap-ass press-on vinyl "tiles," which look surprisingly decent, and are very easy to clean. There's real tile underneath (the previous tennants did a not-so-good job of cutting the squares to fit under the sink), but it's fugly so I'll probably be sticking with the fake wood-look vinyl for the duration.
