[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

I haven't been to the dentist in, oh, 3 years or so. And we've had dental coverage all that time, so I have no excuse except dental phobia and not really liking the only Seattle dentist I've tried.

So. Seattlistas. Anyone know of a gentle, understanding dentist who'd be kind to someone with severe dental phobia* and TMJ, both of which make ordinary cleanings a bit of an ordeal?

*My first dentist, when I was a wee child of five or six, thought a good way to make a child stop crying was to put a hand over her mouth, leading that child to think of dentists as people who smother you. As a result, I didn't tell my parents that I had a bad toothache until half of my right lower six year molar FELL OUT. They took me to a different dentist, who was like unto a god. That tooth is over 3/4 filling, and I've had that same filling since the age of 8--every dentist who's seen it since admires his handiwork. Unfortunately, he's A) 3000 miles or so from here, and B) retired.

Good planning. Any changes due? It was looking pretty long on Sunday.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Nora and Tep in the vanguard of spring haircuts.

Pfffft. I got mine cut at the beginning of this month. Mind, it's just a variation on the skater-punk look that I seem to have generally settled on, but my options are limited right now.

I'm gonna go quite a bit shorter, but basically the same shape, with lots of chunky layering. I'm also going back to a warm, golden red. What I REALLY want, and have wanted, are Betty Page bangs, but my stylist keeps telling me no. I also really want to do to top layer of my hair white blonde and underneath the warm, golden red, but it would not go over in my office.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

It must be haircut week. I just made an appointment for Saturday. I'd meant to call earlier in the week, and unfortunately my sleep-deprived scatterbrainedness means I can't have my regular stylist. Hopefully it'll be OK. It's not like I have a complicated hairstyle.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Nora and Tep in the vanguard of spring haircuts.

Are you kidding? I have 11 days to go. I'ma have to trim my own bangs again.

I'm so irritated with my hair right now that I might bypass the angled bob entirely and go straight for the OMGWTFshort cut.

Or not.

I'm seeing sound critical thinking here.

Excellent. Punk rock suits you.

I'm gonna go quite a bit shorter

Today just gets better.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Susan, is there a medical school in Seattle? Because the university I work at has a huge dental school, and among its many clinics is one specifically serving patients with dentist phobias.

Much, much -ma to your father, and to your whole family.

And also tons of healing-ma to Teppy's Big!Boss and askye's father.

In my desk drawer I have a shamrock cookie with green sugar sprinkles, given to me by a random child. She was waiting at the elevator, all decked out in green shirt and green necklace and with a big shamrock balloon tied to her wheelchair that said I'M 8 TODAY! So I wished her a happy birthday, and she pulled out a little sparkly green bag and asked me if I wanted a cookie. For her birthday, giving other people cookies! So damn cute and sweet and melty-making! The cookie's in my desk awaiting the midafternoon blood sugar sag, but I really don't know if I can bear to eat it, what with teh cute and all.
