[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

All is well that ends in pizza.

The universe mocked me yesterday.

Saturday, I drove up to Minneapolis for a Diabetes seminar [link] and on my way back home, stopped at a grocery store.

I have had a small leak in my radiator. I've been topping off my antifreeze levels occasionally until I get it repaired or the Bars Leaks I put in the radiator halts the leak. I decide to check the level in the reservoir. But when I open the hood, the radiator is cool to the touch. Fearing that I ran out of antifreeze, I try the cap. Now, this isn't usually a problem as under pressure, it can't be turned. I was thinking it wasn't going to turn, so I tried.

It turned.

Whoosh! plume of lukewarm antifreeze all up and down my right side, soaking my face, hair, nice shirt, nice pants, nice boots, and every surface for about 6 feet.

You know how antifreeze is mostly glucose and alcohol?

Here I was, standing like an idiot in a parking lot at 20 F, holding a radiator cap. Cold antifreeze dripped off me as I reflected on my coming from a Diabetes seminar and getting coated with glucose.

I calmly took the 50/50 pre-mix from my trunk, and poured two gallons into the radiator and the reservoir. Then I walked into the grocery store to clean up a bit in their bathroom.

For some reason I did not get upset, I simply reflected on the irony of the situation.

This is admirable.

Hi bitches!

Yummy dress Maria!

I have to scroll back a bit now.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Erika, where in Arizona do you live again? We have some cool writer friends moving to Tucson, who would love to meet interesting people.

Ah yes, I have a bitches question. #1 son has blond tips in his hair and he would like them to be green on Thursday. Normally when I do his tips I goop his hair up with gel to keep it spiked up so I only bleach the tips. If I mix green food color with the gel and leave it on a whole long time will it stay green when he rinses out the goop? I'll bleach it out again over the weekend since it time to do that again anyway.

I know I did this in my youth when I was a natural blond, but I don't remember how we did it.

I haven't done crap today except watch taped television shows. MIL is coming up later for corned beef and cabbage so I need to at least tidy up some. I did make a yummy looking strawberry moussy desert.

Ow. I am very sore. Just from lugging groceries and stuff all over yesterday, I think. Yeesh.

What food is best for soaking up booze in your tummy? Breads?

When I started college, they gave us pamphlets that told us to eat protein to combat drunkenness. :) Yay, Georgetown.

Tonight, I'm making pasta sauce w/ sweet Italian sausage. I've also got a big pot o' chili simmering away. Tomorrow, I make chicken stew and Scotch broth

Mmmm. Tempting to go to Anne's house!!

my hair doesn't absorb Manic Panic well

Mine neither -- I tried it a few times in college, but it washed out after about a day and a half

Heh. The one time I used it (crayola red), I did it a couple weeks before Thanksgiving, and at New Year's, it was still bright red (the friend I did it with had it fade out by Thanksgiving), so I eventually bleached it out.

The wonderful man I am going to marry offered to buy it as a thank you for sharing the burdens of getting his business up and running.

Awww. Maria, you will look GAWRJUS no matter what you wear.

Also I like Kristin's friend Jay, and he should be a buffista now. Also, I have a friend that I think needs to meet ND. I think she'd appreciate him. I know she appreciates the thought of his leather kilt.

It took me until i saw "corned beef and cabbage" that i realized why the heck Laura's son would want green hair. Not that there's anything wrong with green hair.

I'm hating right now. HATING. Becuase this "friend" of mine is making me CRAZY--whenever I see something/someone I want, she immediately decides she wants it/her also, and it PISSES ME OFF. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. OFFA MY WOMAN, BITCH! (even if she's not "my" woman... yet!)

I'm breaking out in little bumps all over my arms. I'm pretty certain it's because I've been handling dusty boxes, but still...there are itchy little bumps all over my arms!

What is even happening?

They're possibly hives, and the dust is a likely culprit. Try not to scratch, as (at least for me) that tends to bring them out more. If you shower, try to keep the water on the cool side. If you can take an anti-histamine vw, it might help.

Get thee to a medicine cabinet for an antihistamine?

If I take an anti-histimine I'll get all sleepy. I'll try putting something on it and see if that helps. I've got some ointment stuff around here somewhere.

What the hell--is anyone else having issues with LJ? I normally have it set to not log me out, but when I just tried to go there, I was logged out...and when I tried to log in, it wouldn't let me. WTF?
