I've never had marshmallow fluff in any form, to the best of my knowledge. We did rice krispie treats the way Betsy does.
Spike's Bitches 22: You've got Angel breath
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
That's the way we've always done it.
You start with real marshmallows and melt them.
Oh my god. yes. It would never occur to me to use Fluff for that.
BLECH! No fluff for Rice Krispie Treats!! You miss the buttery taste otherwise.
You can make Rice Krispy treats with marshmallow fluff? I had thought the melting and then cooling of the marshmallows was what held them together.
Ah! Fluff! How I miss it. When I moved to CA, I was annoyed when I learned that it wasn't sold here.
I feel like marshmallow Fluff was an east of the Mississippi thing. Or regional in some other way?
I'd bet it's regional. I grew up in MA. See reference to CA annoyance factor above.

Very much so. My friend from Maine was despondent when he first found that it is not sold here.

Wrod. And you don't add miniature marshmallows with the Rice Krispies, and you don't frost them and add sprinkles. I'm looking at you, Utahns.
Cindy, we have a local place that makes gourmet peanut butter downtown. They have a shop close to where DH works and he'll sometimes go in there to get a Peanut Butter and marshmallow sandwhich for lunch. I'm pretty sure they make it with marshmallow fluff, since it's all creamy and gooey.
I got DH one of their t-shirts which he loves to wear.

But they *are* really good with melted chocolate on top. Nummmmmmm.
