Spike's Bitches 22: You've got Angel breath
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Teppy, were you on an antibiotic recently?
A couple of weeks ago, for a sinus infection. My tongue doesn't *look* thrush-y (it's normal tongue-pink), but it fucking hurts.
Sweet potatoes? I think of them as being less starch and more veg than regular potatoes. Maybe some squash-type stuff, pumpkin soup and the like?
Oh, yum. Sweet potatoes. I forgot about them. I think they straddle the line of veg-starch, because they have tons of vitamins and are less starchy than white potatoes, while still being kind of a starch.
Roughly chop a bunch of kale. Toss with salt, pepper, and garlic. Steam 5-7 minutes, or until just wilted. (This also works great with chard.)
My problem here is that I *love* steamed greens, but I have to have them with red wine vinegar. And that would kill my tongue.
I found a good (and good for you) recipe for colcanon the other day - which is basically mashed potatoes with cabbage in them. If cabbage is okay with you, I can post the recipe.
I'm not a huge cabbage fan. But thank you!
Edamame are probably pretty good for you. Soy is, like, magic or something.
I am an edamame FANATIC. Do they count as veggies, rather than starch? Or as protein?
They count as all three, for lo! they are magic beans.
Picks vw up on shoulders and runs around the thread.
You're Number One! You're Number One!
t gets giant foam finger and waves it at VW!!!
You're Number One! You're Number One!
Hee!
That's a lovely email, vw! Yay you!
The boy just bit my ear.
VW - you rock!
What about some kind of soup, Teppy? I'm not sure if I could find an actual recipe, because I did my usual "read a bunch of recipes and then invent something," but I made soup last week with onions, garlic, chicken, chicken broth, potatoes, kale and broccoli and it was good. You can make almost anything in the chicken soup family without tomatoes and throw in a lot of vegetables.
Ooh, you should make caldo verde! Nummy as hell, and so so easy. Lemme see if I can find a good recipe online. (Actually, I think I'm going to make some for myself this week. It's a great cold-weather soup.)
