Giles, if you would like to get by in American society, then you are going to have to follow our traditions. You're the patriarch. You have to host the festivities, or it's all meaningless.

Spike's Bitches 22: You've got Angel breath

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Thrive to spite them

Grandma E taught me how to crochet a long time ago and lately I've been trying it. I have a large hook and some thread and it's sort of a scarf but mainly just me practicing different stithces. I like to sit when I'm not really watching tv and crochet.

And I love coloring books. Haven't done one in ages but they do make coloring books for adults.

YAY vw for the non migrane having for most of the time. Boo on the migrane now.

As for furniture - - I will be furnishing my new place mostly with furniture from Mom's garage. But these are cool pieces that she's picked up at garage sales (or the side of the street) that I'd want anyway.

My father, who will be 63 this year, has lots of "hand me down" furniture from various family members and a couch that is ugly and uncomfortable. He was kind of complaining about this last night when I reminded me he can buy new stuff. It's not that big a deal, haul the nearly 20 yr old couch out to the side of the road, find pretty new couch. Replace. But I think he gets some kind of martyr joy out of being the one in the family to get the stuff no one else wants.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Actually, considering Lee's hair in a lot of her shots, the male version might have been closer. I also wonder who submitted her stuff because I know she's done other things, but it only has the anime stuff.

Because books.

This sounds intriguing! And, also, possibly porny.

I will be furnishing my new place mostly with furniture from Mom's garage

We've bought very little brand-new furniture. We were planning on trying to replace some things the dog, cat, and boys destroyed comfortably wore in, but with the baby...My aunt said she had a basement full of stuff to choose from, so we got a sectional sofa, a chair, a desk, and all of my grandmother's bedroom furniture, which she wanted me to have. We were waiting to have a bedroom big enough.

I love hand-me-downs, especially like that. Mom-Mom's bedroom suite is solid mahogany with dovetail joints, not a shred of MDF anywhere, from 1940, the year they got married. I couldn't afford furniture like it now if my life depended on it.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

You should fix it for her. I tweak the entries of friends of mine all the time.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

The TA in one of my classes is on IMDB: [link]

I shouldn't find this so cool, but I do.

Hey, I find it cool too! I was so excited when I knew someone on IMDb. For anyone who's read my latest LJ entry, here's the girl I met at a movie theater.

Amy -- handme downs like that are great. Dad has a bunch of cheap, uncomfortable stuff no one else wanted and he decided to "store" for later.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

This is one of our best friends. [link]

Gonna be watching the Oscars at his and his wife's house, as a matter of fact. I never looked him up before. Cool.

Cool, Robin! He's worked on some great movies. Also some not-so-great movies.

Hey, I know someone who built sets on Christmas With The Kranks, so Robin -- you and I are three degrees apart!
