I'm quite sure that any god worth believing in is not gonna miffed at me for believing the wrong thing. So it kinda doesn't matter. But I can't accept the notion that we're only alive for this short period of time and then we just disappear. That seems like such a waste.
-t is me in this regard. Except that as a legacy from my more fundamentalist past, there's a little part of me that
does
worry that God will get miffed at me for believing the wrong things.
Slowly turning from atheism, here. Not sure to what.
That sounds Deist.
I think I've got more of an idea of a personal god than Deism goes in for, but I don't explain it well.
Hec, dude. That sounds like a great book, and yes, so much in line with what I said. Coover. Baseball. Must remember.
Also? Not a long book. And there's a good sex scene.
But I can't accept the notion that we're only alive for this short period of time and then we just disappear. That seems like such a waste.
In addition to that, many believe that people are alive because God wants us to worship him, but he doesn't need us to do so. However, we are taught that it is our
duty
to Him to go to church and worship Him. How does it benefit God any if I do or do not go to church? Why should I go to church if
I
don't get anything out of it and He doesn't need it?

I have quashed any tendency I might have towards this by picturing myself getting "sentenced" to hell and basically saying "Oh, yeah? Well, screw you, if you're gonna be like that, I don't believe in you AT ALL". Which would accomplish I don't know what, exactly, but it pleases me.
Pastor wants a boat?
Oh, okay, all Revs aren't my Uncle ,Pastor "He Who Dies With The Most Toys Wins"
My bad.
Newspaper Meara. Lots of stuff I wanted to share with various Buffistas
For billytea and Jen, a descripton of The Farallones by a local outsdoory writer. Calling it America's Galapagos is overstating the case, but it's still fascinating.
Check out this picture too.
For meara and I think Gloomcookie, A rave review for S2 of The L Word. (Medium spoilers in mid-article, but there is a spoiler alert.)
For Catholics, Vatican has excorcist shortage.
For Sunil and DXM and Jen and billytea and other science-heads...Isolating the Bug Love Pheronome. This is more fascinating for how they solved the problem of isolating the German Cockroach love pheronome than anything about the bugs. Cool science! Cyberpunk!
Oh, Hec, were your ears burning this morning? I talked about you and my t-shirt over at The Waterfront Homicide List.
