I was told to buy the CI. Of course, I don't know what issue it was in, and have no money for it. I had to cancel my frigging newspaper, so I'm not really in the position to buy some foodie magazine for a cupcake recipe.

Yes. Soon you will pronounce things like 'banana', 'herbs', and 'vitamins' in ways that seem perfectly normal to you, but will confuse other Americans.

I am going somewhere on the company dime tomorrow. Atlanta. And it's supposed to be 68 there. It's so sad that I can now think of 68 as warm. Darn East coast weather.

Me, too. And having lived in the South for many years, I also reserve the right to make fun of people in the North who complain when the temp reaches 90 in the summer.

In the South, things are set up to deal with high temps in the summer.

Here, that's not the case. It's a lot easier to deal with heat when a: you're used to it; and b: you can go from air conditioned building to air conditioned building. AC is a rare thing in Seattle. We've had record warms the last few years, and we're really not set up for it. Things are supposed to be mellow.

(Also, Seattle has legit reasons for being crippled on the rare occasions when we get snow. We have few plows, we're pretty hilly, and we have a lot of bridges and overpasses that ice over pretty rapidly if there's a cold snap. Oh, and friends who've moved to colder places from here assure me that the people in cold places drive just as poorly in the snow as we do, and that the main difference is that the roads get cleared faster. So there.)
