The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

It's so quaint when the southern Californistas complain about the weather.

But leaving aside the diamond-shoes aspects, hasn't the rain been worth it?

Rick, ita and Allyson already touched on this, but people have died because of the weather here. People have lost their homes, or have had to evacuate them. There has been millions of dollars of property damage.

So really, not quaint, and not diamond shoes.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

We are going to be a sneezy coughy pair this weekend, aren't we.

Heh. I'm, uh, actually sending my mother to pick them up for me since she's going to be in town anyway, and god, I'm not an adult, am I?, although I'm certainly coughy and sneezy right now. I would've got them this morning, but the pharmacy still wasn't open and I needed to get to work to make sure the file server hadn't crashed, and my dentist is a good 45 minutes from my office.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

[Fortunately, I'd been out of work for so long by that point that the burnout had a chance to dissipate.]

I am hoping grad school will have a similar effect on me. Also helping? Having this part time job for which I'm wildly overqualified. My boss just asked me shut his office door, which totally gave me the scary feeling in the pit of my stomach. But no! There's a possibility of there being more hours for me to work here. So now I'm trying to decide if I should do that, or try harder to get more consulting work, since that pays like three times as much as I make here. But the work is much harder. Any thoughts?

You should definitely go with the Sugardaddy option, Jesse.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Clearly, that would be ideal.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

If Allyson is still around. I got the package a few weeks ago. Dude. Amazing. If I ever let myself be photographed w/o makeup, I'd show you before and afters.

YAY! I'm so happy. Glad it all worked out.

So really, not quaint, and not diamond shoes.

Did you read about the 16 year old girl who was just sitting in her bedroom when a mudslide crashed through her window and killed her? He parents on the other side of the house weren't harmed at all.

Just devastating.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Ooh, I forgot to mention, I have a new TV.

My dad, who is doing much better after a couple of really scary days by the way, went out and bought himself a big ass tv in anticipation of the next month or two of sitting on his ass at home 24-7. So I made off with the 27" instead of my current 14.

Now I need some new furniture, though. The shelf my tv is currently on won't work for the bigger one. Because I need the shelving, and like things higher rather than lower, I don't really want one of the low stands that are all over (though I'm in love with this if only it were bigger and/or cheaper). So something more like an entertainment center, except not fugly, is what I'm hoping to find. Suggestions? My living room furniture is mostly dark wood, accented with red, so something that at least wouldn't totally clash would be good.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

SoCal should totally stop having our weather. Come summer, we're all going to be so screwed, you with the new growth turning to fires, and us with the lack of water.

Yup. They can't handle water; we can't handle not-water.
