Art Crawl!!!

For those keeping track, the lemon pound cake is amazing.

Phew. Such a relief.

Except for the part where I don't have any, or anything resembling it.

Yeah. What -t said.

It's just another one of those damn duck nibble things. Why do I not have my Zyrtec yet?

t sits with Dana in the nibbled by ducks corner

I haven't been able to make it to the pharmacy to refill my Zyrtec prescription and I had to go to the dentist this morning.

Still don't have any cavities, but my mouth is still kind of sore from their implements of torture. Maybe I'll have soup for lunch...

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

And ... the only remaining meeting attendee had the wrong room, so I ended up waiting a scant five minutes (as opposed to a lengthy and luxuriating five) and bolting back for my desk, having left a "call me" message.

Turns out ... he's totally not mad at us for messing up.

However, I'm mad at my co-workers for SCHEDULING ANOTHER 9AM MEETING and not bothering to decline my meeting. Pissed.

We are going to be a sneezy coughy pair this weekend, aren't we. On the other hand, my nurse is going to give me some samples today, so if it's the kind you take, I may be able to pass some on.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Boss's doggie is here. She keeps on coming into my office and then checking out the floor, looking for the dot of laser light. I didn't bring the laser yesterday or today, so when she can't find the dot she goes away disappointed, as she is uninterested in me petting her.

I hate it when I am loved only for my laser.

What is even happening?

The vitamin C in the lemon pound cake would probably cure this cold I've been suffering for the past week. Does that melt ita's icy heart? I don't think so. This is why people do not woo her for her baked goods.

That's a big part of why it took me so long to find my current job - which is virtually the same role as the position I'd burned out on in the first place. [Fortunately, I'd been out of work for so long by that point that the burnout had a chance to dissipate.]
You know, I think you should get an award for the ability to find the silver lining. I'm not trying to be cute, but what a great way to put this. I am such a whingy pants. My guess is I'd have said something like, "I had been out of work so long that I had to take the same sort of soul sucking job." I think I must be working toward some inner-moppet spanking, or attitude adjustment, because the words of people with admirable outlooks have been jumping out at me, all week.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

It's so quaint when the southern Californistas complain about the weather.

But leaving aside the diamond-shoes aspects, hasn't the rain been worth it?

Rick, ita and Allyson already touched on this, but people have died because of the weather here. People have lost their homes, or have had to evacuate them. There has been millions of dollars of property damage.

So really, not quaint, and not diamond shoes.

Heh. I'm, uh, actually sending my mother to pick them up for me since she's going to be in town anyway, and god, I'm not an adult, am I?, although I'm certainly coughy and sneezy right now. I would've got them this morning, but the pharmacy still wasn't open and I needed to get to work to make sure the file server hadn't crashed, and my dentist is a good 45 minutes from my office.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

[Fortunately, I'd been out of work for so long by that point that the burnout had a chance to dissipate.]

I am hoping grad school will have a similar effect on me. Also helping? Having this part time job for which I'm wildly overqualified. My boss just asked me shut his office door, which totally gave me the scary feeling in the pit of my stomach. But no! There's a possibility of there being more hours for me to work here. So now I'm trying to decide if I should do that, or try harder to get more consulting work, since that pays like three times as much as I make here. But the work is much harder. Any thoughts?

You should definitely go with the Sugardaddy option, Jesse.
