Looked it up, and hardtack is what I thought, basically flour and water crackers. And that is what I thought lembas was. Not that I've ever read Tolkien, obviously.

Hardtack can have salt, too. I think the main difference from communion wafers is the lack of holiness. And wafers are thin.
No, I meant movie lembas. What they used in the movies was a type of shortbread. Apparently tasty, as everybody on set seemed to be eating it.
