Everybody dies, Tracey. Someone's carrying a bullet for you right now, doesn't even know it. The trick is to die of old age before it finds you.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Lembas is sweet? I figured lembas was like hard tack or whatever. Whatever hard tack is. But I guess that doesn't really fit into the Hobbit lifestyle, does it?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Lembas is Elven.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Isn't hard tack what sailors used to eat?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I am petting the top of the cutest little Mac Mini that you ever did see....

I should note again, how fun it was shopping in the Apple store in Chicago with Tom. He was the perfect Apple consumer, eagerly checking out every little possible doodad there was.

And the Mini hadn't even come out yet. Otherwise, who knows what you might have seen....

It has got to be about the most elegant piece of technology I've ever seen. 'Cept maybe for my Cube.

Looked it up, and hardtack is what I thought, basically flour and water crackers. And that is what I thought lembas was. Not that I've ever read Tolkien, obviously.

So, like... comnunion wafers? Wait, those have salt too....

Hardtack can have salt, too. I think the main difference from communion wafers is the lack of holiness. And wafers are thin.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

No, I meant movie lembas. What they used in the movies was a type of shortbread. Apparently tasty, as everybody on set seemed to be eating it.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Oy. I generally pay my credit card bill online. It was due today. I swear I paid it last night. But now, my checking account doesn't reflect it, and the credit card website says that I logged in last night, but has my last payment as last month. Do I assume that it's just taking a while to go through and wait until tomorrow, or do I pay it again and risk paying double and having something bounce? (And actually, I just realized that it'll count either tonight or tomorrow as "late," so I think I'll wait. Or should I do something else?)
