Ann, that's a ferret.

I need to pick an island for 2005.

Not Jesse, but I recommend St. Maarten. Lovely, lovely island.

There's also the cruise ship option, which allows you to stop at several islands.

If I only had a brain...

Oh. Okay. In that case, my goddess brings the ability to bake. No boys needed.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I recommend St. Maarten. Lovely, lovely island.

Problem is, if I get near the Caribbean, I'm just going to go home, because it's also lovely, and familiar, and I can make it cheaper. So I'm looking to branch out.

I've never been attracted by the cruise vacation. Teleport me from island to island, sure. But the boat time feels like it would annoy me.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Hmmm, ita. Only other islands I know are between NC and DE. Some nice beaches, but not worth flying cross-country for. Unless you're meeting a fun group there.

And the cruise vacation is definitely not everybody's cup of tea.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

If somebody hands me a nice wad of money, I'm going to go on a nature-watching sailboat cruise in the Sea of Cortez. Cactuses and whales, fighting crime!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The tsunami hit half the places I'd been originally considering. I'm more than willing to rush over there in that slow period where everyone hasn't quite decided it's safe, but they're trying to kickstart their tourism back into gear. Call it hurricane-induced sympathy. Thing is, with devastation of that scale, I have no idea when that'll be.

Maybe Hawaii. I feel I should just go really far, though, since I only leave the US for Canada and Jamaica.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I just went to South Beach. Is that actually on an island? I think so.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I just went to South Beach. Is that actually on an island?

Does it have North, East and West beaches too?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Miami Beach is technically a sandbar built up with landfill. I don't know if that counts as an island, but you do have to cross a bridge to get there.

Swouncing

I feel I should just go really far

Cyprus?

The students finished their exam. Most of them were quite displeased. Apparently somebody started a rumor that a certain topic (that they only covered with the professor, not with me) would not be in the exam, and one question was about just that topic, so most of the students had a problem with it, and were frustrated (they really worked hard during the whole semester, poor things). Yesterday I specifically said that this subject may be in the exam, but apparently, without enough authority or something. Sigh.

And now, to write a paper for my "History and Philosophy of Science" class. I can't remember when was the last time I had to write a paper that wasn't supposed to have even a single equation. Also, this one is supposed to be short. The lecturer demanded that we use the word-count of Word to make sure our answers to each of the 2 questions wouldn't be over 750 words. I am, however, the opposite of concise. I've used more words than that to not-even-begin some posts over in the "Firefly" thread. I'm probably going to write everything, then start to cut out most of it (and if an equation slips in, that too). We'll see.
