"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Wait -- Nutty -- how about being in love with fictional characters -- does that scare you too?

Love for fictional characters is safe. Because you will never meet a fictional character in a dark alley; consequently, whether or not your infatuation has allowed you to imbue that fictional character with positive attributes he does not deserve is a moot question.

Wow, we spent the whole afternoon talking about Michael Jackson. How conventional! This must be the price we pay for 500 consecituve math puns.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Is that infatuation deemed more likely when the target isn't someone you know, more dangerous, or just more disturbing?

Because, really, if I were going to go make stuff up about people, I'd feel safest doing it about people with whom I'd have no contact.

Which may explain things, but I'm not sure which.

Our wings are not tired.

I have no clue what to think about MJ. I thought Thriller was real neat and bought the cassette tape back in the day.

My kids wouldn't be slumbering with him because a)I don't know him and b)they think he is creepy.

I had a yummy spinach salad for lunch with pumpkin seeds on top. No dessert.

It's dinner time now. I guess I'll go watch DH's pool league since no Lost tonght.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

I don't know what you could get a deferment for right now - generally they are for more school, joining the army ;)

I asked for and got a deferment for the year I spent in England (where I was only getting a small stipend for food and similar basic expenses), and decided to extend it for another year after I got home while I was temping and moving across the country. If the rules haven't changed, you're allowed up to 36 months deferment, and they seem to hand them out fairly freely--you just take the risk that you'll need the deferment again after you've used up the time.

I should have my student loan paid off at long last next month. While I mean to apply the extra money to paying down credit card debt so we can buy a house, and once that's managed, go ahead and put it into a college fund for Annabel each month, the first month I don't have to pay? I think Dylan and I are going to have a really, really nice dinner with 3/4 of the money, and I'll spend the rest on strictly non-educational books.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Are all the networks are pre-empting tonight (ie-are we getting Lost?)

are we getting Lost?

Nope. Well, rerun.

Trust my rage

So there is also a down side to consolidation? I had heard that it locks in your interest rate. I thought this might be good since I keephearing that rates will go up.

If you consolidate, does it matter who you chose to do it or are all the rates/deals pretty competetive?

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Right. I knew it's a re-run, but what I'm wondering is if I try to watch it, will I find W on my screen

Infatuation with someone you've never met: more dangerous. More likely? Could be, I suppose, since someone you don't know is like a blank slate for you to draw your ideal onto. More disturbing? Dunno.

Because, really, if I were going to go make stuff up about people, I'd feel safest doing it about people with whom I'd have no contact.

Well, the original question was, just because you see Tom Brady on TV all the time, and he is polite to reporters and occasionally manages to shave, would/should you feel safe if you met him in a dark alley?

My answer is no, and no offense to Tom, but I don't know who he is when he's at home.

Depends on your time zone, DE. I have gotten used to the West Coast not running that politicky stuff in prime time, so I'm not sure.

How much does he weigh, again? I guess I'd feel safer with him than with a complete stranger, since at least I'd have a name for the police, but that's about it.
