Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

A teacher where I grew up was acquitted of pedophilia and I testified in his defense. Of course, his life was all but ruined and he never got to coach again.

He'd preferred coaching girls, he felt they were by and large more dedicated athletes and not in it to impress people half as much as the boys. Boy did THAT sound perverted once the allegations went down.

Hundreds of parents and students backed him up and it had nothing to do with denial. It was because they trusted him and wanted to show their support. If he'd had a theme park at his house we'd have all gone over.

Woohoo lisah! That's awesome.

I'm hoping to come if I don't have an attack of Avoiding the Humans.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Hundreds of parents and students backed him up and it had nothing to do with denial.

What bearing does this have on Michael Jackson's innocence? On anyone's innocence?

Of course innocent people are accused of crimes. As are guilty. I don't see your train of thought ...

Punishingly Intricate

I'm hoping to come if I don't have an attack of Avoiding the Humans.

Thanks! Would love to see you there but totally understand the need to Avoid. Especially at the end of the week.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Yeah, but in this case, he admitted what he'd done, many, many boys came forward, he was convicted of raping a 13-year-old boy, and some parents STILL thought there must be some mistake. Denial when someone is innocent isn't denial, it's facing the truth--which is the opposite of what I was talking about.

Also, upon reading amych's COMMed post (because I'm slow on the uptake sometimes,) I envisioned a groundhog in a cowboy hat and Jesse's glasses typing at a laptop.

I think I may have snorted.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I swear I'm not really a rodent. Or a cowgirl. But I do wear glasses, and use a laptop. Please adjust your mental images accordingly.

Yeah, if you were a rodent Homer would probably have turned you into a cat treat and so you wouldn't be posting! You'd be dead!

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I think you are all missing the obvious - Jesse is a weather predicting llama.

She could be a capybara. Homer can't take one of those.
