I once saw Philip Glass on a bus from Halifax To Cape Breton. (I'm pretty sure it was him.) He was eating a bag of chips.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Cass, you know those things that if you're worried you're not doing them well, most chances are that you're doing them well? I think, from all the way across the ocean, that attempting to do things with grace (your sort or any other) probably means that you do.I think you're right, Nilly. I think the decision for grace is, in itself, graceful.
Any unaccredited white people at my (still putative) wedding don't get to dance.
Hmph. I refuse to be damned for all the helpless white people. I don't flail on the dance floor.Oh, c'mon Hec. We people have, as a group, certainly earned that stereotype. You know it's true more often than not--at least where music from the rock-n-roll era to the present is concerned. The wrong-clapping-white-folks stereotype is also more true than false, particularly during music with back beat. In a crowd situation, it's disconcerting being one of the few people other than the musicians who have rhythm. One time at a church service with more modern music, Ben turned to me, quite alarmed, and asked, "Mommy, is everyone clapping wrong?" The numbers were so against the right-clappers, he started to doubt his own rhythm, which is excellent.
There were white men at this wedding, including the groom and his brothers, and a small number of the white men could dance just fine, but the groom and his brothers were not in that number. We reduced it down to one-two, one-two, and they still ended up at 3.5.This. And to dip my toe further into the sterotype pool, other than my dad, and one great uncle, most of my favorite male dance partners are gay.
But eww. Do you really want to? I mean, she's cute and everything, but I honestly don't understand why she is so popular. I never got what was so special about Mary. And her dorky underpants dance didn't do much to endear her to me either. Even though I have nothing against her. Also, I think there are many prettier girls out there, if that's the route you want to go. But if your heart is set on her. Well, good luck in Canada. They do not have to go to Canada. They can come to Massachusetts. Do you people not watch the news?
Monday. bleagh.
I managed to get to work earlier than I did all last week. I should get a cash reward or a minion.
Nutty, I hope you feel better soon, medication or not.
So, we're talking about weddings (the skipper asked)? My roommate gets married in 5 weeks and a day. I'm very one-tracked-minded.
Gronk. Timelies.
I really don't need to be awake yet, since my first class today is at 2:20, but I've realized that if I don't wake up kind of early on the days when I don't need to, I have a lot more trouble getting up early on the days when I do need to. So I'm going to eat some breakfast and get dressed and go to my office (stopping off for something caffeinated along the way) and get some grading or homework or something done.
While completely making a mockery of mine "no, really, I'm not here" stand - Hil? Congratulations on the results of your exam! Yay you!
stupid Monday. My cell phone is still lost.
Sumi, re: Iron Chef- hell yeah! I looooove Ming Tsai and I think I've almost convinced Tom that we should go to his restaurant (Blue Ginger in Wellesley MA) for our three year anniversary this May. Tom's theory was that this episode was taped first, but they couldn't show it first, because of the Flay ass whuping. Also, I suspected it was a loss, because the rotation of Chefs- 2 Flays with no Morimoto in between. I'd have loved to see a Tsai-Morimoto challenge. Morimoto gets no respect! Also, I LOVED the air compressor action. So did the producers, I think. They must have shown that footage about 18 times in an hour.
That's not a mockery, that's a crockery.
Oh, Nilly! You might enjoy my new science blog and Hil's new math and science blog.
sumi's whitefont on Iron Chef America --
Anyone else watch Iron Chef America?
Because, I am soooo happy that Flay lost!!!! Plus, I just liked Chef Tsai.
Heh. One of my brother's life goals is to beat up Bobby Flay. I just want to watch if he does.
