Does anyone know why, in Word, a line will look like it lines up with the rest of a paragraph on the normal page view, but then in Print preview, that one line will be one tab's worth of space off from the other lines, or better yet, how to fix it?

My HP just died. Now I have a 1600x1200 LCD monitor that's not being used. I've been pricing Power Macs.
Although to be fair I should try to revive the HP first.

No.
Um. I'm assuming the line is horizontal.... Is there anything to the left of the line? Sometimes, print preview is subtly different, depending on what printer driver you're using. Perhaps you have stuff to the left of the line that almost pushes the line to the next tab stop, and the print preview is just different enough that it hits the next tab stop.

eta: Oh, you mean a line of text? Well, I think what I wrote still applies, sorta....
