It makes sense that Starbucks is not franchised, becaue usually if you buy a franchise you get some sort of guarantee that there will be no other places from the same franchise within a certain distance of yours.
There are actually no Starbucks anywhere near where I work now. There is a Starbucks about a block from my apartment - just a little too far for me to be able to connect to my WiFi network. (Maybe if I get a directional antenna....) It still annoys me that you gotta pay for WiFi at Starbucks.
I have to take a train to the nearest Starbucks. outer borough baby. Then again, I don't like starbucks, so that is ok.
Union square has 3 Starbucks.
I had a weird dream last night where my (deceased) great aunt and uncle left me a house that had never been emptied of belongings. I am not sure what the justification was for finding out about it several years after their death, but as with all my dreams about houses I remember tons of the design and floorplan details. The weirdest thing I remember is that it had gas heaters with metal grills built into the walls. The grills would get extremely hot and so you had to avoid every leaning on or touching the walls for fear of getting burned.
The closest Starbucks to me is about 5 or 6 blocks away. I want one closer because I'm just a lazy ass like that.
My town has no Starbucks.
DX, I'm thinking Green's an Immortal. On the upside, there might be some hotties with swords coming through NC in the next few weeks. The downside, well, I think I'll keep my laptop unplugged just in case.
None of my local libraries have coffee. I think that should change. We have a lovely local coffee house across the road from the nearest Starbucks, which isn't too terribly saturated hereabouts. Oddly enough, in an area famous for caffeine-driven geeks (Research Triangle Park) there's only one coffee house, and it's hidden so far in the back of a strip mall that you have to be really motivated to find it. This should also change.
My town has no Starbucks.
Sounds like a town without pity.
Davis Square Somerville is like the coffee capital of the world -- there are several independent coffee places plus Starbucks plus Dunkin, all within like 4 blocks. Love it.
I keep getting "free drink!" certificates from my Safeway (which has a Starbucks) but I never use them and they expire.

OK, so I've been pretty much cranky for 2 weeks now. Easily irritated, that sort of thing. And people aren't helping by being boneheadedly STUPID.
Dude, if you aren't listening to my explanation, tell me and I can save my breath. Because if 5 minutes after I explain X, you ask, "so what is up with X?" You are going to get a terse "That's what I was talking about."
I think I'd better go pick up my free stress relief ball from HR.
Sounds like a town without pity.
And it isn't very pretty what one of those can do.

No gaping, here. Dude, you don't even eat cookies at work. You're clearly an eccentric.
Oh, this is too funny. It isn't a ball it is a wee foam

This cracks me up.

I like coffee. I just can only handle 1 cup a day, and it has to be before 10 am or it's not going to be a pretty night.
Aversion therapy works, people. Cookie-unmonsteriness stems somewhat from that as well.
Now offer me cheese.....
