'The Message'

Firefly 4: Also, we can kill you with our brains

Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Brust is really good; I'd love to read his take on this universe. Which is not to say it'd read like Joss--it's a different thing learning to write someone else's characters than your own.

I do believe in killing the messenger, you know why? Because it sends a message. ~ Damon Salvatore

i'm with Vonnie and Cindy. i freakin' love The Office US. of course, i haven't gotten around to watching the UK version quite yet. i just adore the relationships between Jim/Dwight/Pam.

I have no Firefly-related thoughts. feel free to banish me from the thread...

You know, we could experiment and cancel football.

Per Box Office Mojo, Garfield actually cost $50 million. And grossed almost $200 million worldwide.

And that would make even more sense. Thanks, Strega.

But hopefully, not in the 'Dwight as the delicious filling in the Jim/Pam sandwich' threesome way, because Angela will surely kill them all with her hairpin.

Wow, Serenity broke exactly even according to the site. And I guess that's not including advertizing costs and such. I thought it did a little better than that.

Serenity didn't get anywhere near breakeven. Breakeven means it made back the investment. Universal probably received less than half of the boxoffice gross.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Ouch.

You know, we could experiment and cancel football.

Vonnie, they will probably eventually breakeven with DVD sales, TV revenue, and licensing, but it will most likely never be really profitable.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I gotta quit talking about this show, because I'm starting to sound like that woman with the monkey baby and the Star Wars fetish.

hahahaha!

What is even happening?

I think seeing the UK Office first spoiled me for the US version. From what I saw it certainly wasn't bad, but it wasn't as, I dunno... excruciating.

I didn't like the US version the first time I tried it. I'd seen the UK version and it was so perfectly dry, I couldn't see why they'd bother to make it here, with an American cast. Then Scott decided he wanted to give it a go. I caught a few more S2 episodes, and was utterly hooked. Now they're completely different shows for me.

Uhhh, topic. Nathan Fillion was in the movie Slither, which was directed by James Gunn, who's married to Jenna Fischer, who plays Pam in The Office! See? I was sort of on topic.

More sorta on-topic. The character Gunn, on Angel, was named for James Gunn (who wrote Scooby Doo, starring SMG) and his brother Sean (who has appeared in at least two episodes of A:ts). David Denman is Roy on The Office (and has also appeared on Bones), and played Skip on A:ts, who was revealed to be working to advance Jasmine's plans. Jasmine, of course, was played by Gina Torres—Zoe, in Firefly and Serenity.

(David Denman is also going to be in Fan Boys with Kristen Bell, who plays the title character on Veronica Mars, which is neither here nor there, but there were are.)

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Roy was SKIP?!!

OK, my mind is blown.

Also, Sean Gunn is the actor who plays Kirk in Gilmore Girls, right? When was he on AtS? He's got a distinct-enough face that I feel like I should remember, but I have no idea.
