Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.

Thanks for the lube, Jars.
Apparently there's going to be a spin off from BSG called Caprica later in the year. Zoic will be busy.
Anything flavored "hello" is shiny. HEllO.
My big Firefly love: the spaceship. In fact, when I first heard of Joss Whedon's new series, the title actually, and that it's "about" a spaceship, that alone made me feel all warm and tingly. I love fireflies! I love spaceships! I was ready to love to death the spaceship that was a firefly!
And, boy, it was BEAUTIFUL.
My favorite episode is "Out of gas", and favorite scenes the very last ones, when Mal falls in love with his ship before our eyes. The only time I cried, too. He's dying and saying goodbye to everybody, and then SHE's the last thing he sees... I want a relationship like that.
Kevin, if this kind of thing didn't happen at least once a year I would be very very shocked. It's always nice to see my name dragged through the mud.
The weirdness I find in the situation is this:
The catalyst is the idea from the Serenity marketing that fans made Serenity happen.
So, lots of people think they can get a sequel made via the Interweb.
Which is understandable.
So if you're under that thinking, do you then go and shit on the people who (supposedly*) made the situation in the first place.
(*) I don't mean supposedly in a mocking way of anybody involved in FF: Immediate Assistance. (I actually had a great deal of respect for how that was ran). I just supposedly in the marketing sense.
Which is understandable.
No, no it's not. I totally don't get anything but the wishing. Not even hope. I wish I could have scads more Firefly. But...reality. And this isn't something we can change without becoming the people who fund and greenlight.
ita, you misunderstand me (or, rather, I fail to explain) - it's understandable they believe the marketing hype, because the DVDs _say_ the fans caused the movie to happen.
I know that more Firefly won't happen. At all.
Even if I believed that the fans made the movie happen, I can't see believing they can do it again, now. We had our chance, when the movie came out. Didn't work. Bye bye.
Lola, I'm loving your tagline:
Madame, what you said to her was "squid", not "good morning".
I shall therefore institute a (personal) policy of saying, "Squid!" in greeting. Anyone who wishes to join me, please feel squid to.
Squid, Ailleann! I think I have seen you de-lurk on occasion.
Which is understandable.
No, no it's not. I totally don't get anything but the wishing.
ita, Kevin, I think what's happening here, is that some Firefly fans have been watching wayyyyyyy too much other tv, and are now trying to go all House, MD on the possibility of Serenity sequels. They refuse to give up, preferring instead to try whatever wild shit comes to their freaky minds and think they can get away with being stubborn just because being right (and if they can just be stubborn enough, they will be) will justify them in the end.
Except that I doubt any fan of Firefly can possibly be as nastily brilliant as House.
And also that this is a grave exageration of the situation, mostly said because I feel like obsessing on House right now.
I don't know why this stuff still bothers me, but it does. I get all twitchy. Makes no sense.
