Very convincing. Makes me completely want to put myself under government control. Please take me to where you can make me unconscious and naked.

Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Hee--an article about the repressed gayness of Simon Tam (written pre-Serenity).

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Heh. Well-written article, though I still disagree. I've just known too many nicely-dressed, socially inept and inadvertently romantically destructive straight guys to read Simon as gay and repressed. He just maps too neatly onto far, far too many of the meatspace guys I know (I blame the RenFaire).

Though, oddly enough, the last time I rewatched the series, I did get a very very strong vibe from Jayne. Practically every single scene between them was giving off big huge waves of "Awww, Simon's pining after Kaylee and worried about his sister and irritated by Jayne! And Jayne couldn't care less about Kaylee or River. All he wants is to kiss the hell out of Simon and fuck him ragged, and he can't stand it."

What JZ said (far more articulately than I would've managed).

"When I look at people that I would like to feel have been a mentor or an inspiring kind of archetype of what I'd love to see my career eventually be mentioned as a footnote for in the same paragraph, it would be, like, Bowie." ~Trent Reznor

Hear, hear.

You know, we could experiment and cancel football.

Someone tell me how I keep from killing people who want to (today) start petitions to bring back Firefly.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I got an email from a guy about that, Tamara. He read my essay about Firefly and sent me a big, "say it ain't so, I still have hope, there's a new petition" email.

I don't know how to respond. Usually when i send something kind stating a few reasons why the show isn't coming back, I get an argument.

You know, we could experiment and cancel football.

Thanks, Allyson. I know it doesn't really do any good to use logic. So, in my typical form, I'm just being nasty.

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

I guess the movie gave people hope? Mixed messages from some of those involved probably don't help much, but really, I think that previous actions have pretty much shown the level of fan support that's out there, and anything now just reconfirms the craxy.

Just in case anyone here hadn't figured everything out and really wanted to hear my opinion. It could happen. Theoretically.

I'd be first in line, libkitty.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.
