I admit I got all chocked up when he said "light it" at the end of "Safe," holding River in his arms.

Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.

Yep, and funnily enough, he was totally there too.
Heh. I told my wife the same thing. Let's face it, he was either gay or that was a very disturbing (in a hodgeberry way) relationship with his sister. Or maybe both.
Considering that they've apparently been playing romantic leads for years, I'm going for both.
Huh. You know, I didn't really notice how pretty to look at Simon is. I may have to rewatch. You know, for research purposes.
I noticed, but may have to rewatch anyway. You know, for solidarity. No other reason.
I love my captain, but really, I think Simon most benefits from shirtlessness. We may all have to watch both again to make sure, though.

The way you guys sacrifice yourselves for the sake of research is just inspiring. I shall have to join in the sacrifice and do some more re-viewing, just in case my appreciation has been insufficient (wouldn't have thought it possible).
If reviewing is the order of the day, CaptainTightpantsless in that towel or what ever, on that bed, all rumpled and sleepy-eyed...which of course I don't remember well at all!...would be my choice..
bunk!
Hee--an article about the repressed gayness of Simon Tam (written pre-Serenity).
Heh. Well-written article, though I still disagree. I've just known too many nicely-dressed, socially inept and inadvertently romantically destructive straight guys to read Simon as gay and repressed. He just maps too neatly onto far, far too many of the meatspace guys I know (I blame the RenFaire).
Though, oddly enough, the last time I rewatched the series, I did get a very very strong vibe from Jayne. Practically every single scene between them was giving off big huge waves of "Awww, Simon's pining after Kaylee and worried about his sister and irritated by Jayne! And Jayne couldn't care less about Kaylee or River. All he wants is to kiss the hell out of Simon and fuck him ragged, and he can't stand it."

What JZ said (far more articulately than I would've managed).
Hear, hear.
