That is excellent news. All day-job-related busyness, or rock star travels, or some combination that gives you a bit of free time for localistas? Possibly this should go in the F2F thread.

Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.

I'm totally VACATIONING!!!
(Although there may be some rockstar behavior if past visits are any indication...)
I'd love to get together with peoples. I'm pretty plan free at this point except my best friend out there and I are going to try to do some "luxury camping" at some place south of Santa Cruz.

When do you get to SF? I've still got dibs on you for oysters (best for a weekday lunch treat).
I just watched from War Stories through to Objects in Space with my flatmates. One of whom said she didn't like SF, then sat down and didn't get up again. Ha! Take that, flatmate2.
In your face, flatmate2!

I'm not sure yet. I'll probably come in from Sacramento on the train on that Monday, the 5th. Or the train to Oakland then the shuttle to SF which comes in right at the Ferry Building! I am so down with the Oysters & Champagne weekday lunch treat! I didn't even know about the joy of the oyster when I lived out there. Plus the Ferry Building was just an old warehouse or something.

Two pieces of Serenity news.
The title bar of www.serenitymovie.com now reads:
"Serenity DVD | Serenity movie - firefly serenity movie"
No DVD or purchase links on the site yet, though.
dvdanswers.com has official artwork from the DVD: [link]
Universal has today officially announced Serenity which stars Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk. This Joss Whedon directed sci-fi will be available to own from the 20th December, priced at around $29.98. The film itself will be presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen, along with English and French Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks. Extras will include a feature commentary with writer/director Joss Whedon, a director introduction, deleted scenes, outtakes, a Future History: The Story of Earth That Was featurette, a What's in a Firefly featurette and a Re-Lighting the Firefly featurette.
Nothing at Universal Studios Home Entertainment [link] yet.
Don't much like the artwork. It's nice to be able to see the actors better, but what's with the flames (or whatever) between Mal and Zoe?
Also, I'll still buy this, but I was hoping for a price closer to $20. I had planned to buy this for presents. Now, perhaps not.
I don't want to say that marketing, etc., is bad, because I really know not of what I speak. Still, I wish it were better, because it seems like maybe they don't either.

Well, neither the Parkway nor the Red Vic could conceivably be described as palatial, but they are very cozy. The Parkway lets you order beer and a pizza and slounge on a couch (if you get there early enough) while watching your movie, and the Red Vic pops popcorn from scratch for every show and covers it with actual butter like God intended. Also, the Red Vic had couches way before the Parkway.
We have some splendid palaces, too, of course.
