Most people is pretty quiet right about now. Me, I see a stiff -- one I didn't have to kill myself -- I just get, the urge to, you know, do stuff. Like work out, run around, maybe get some trim if there's a willin' woman about... not that I get flush from corpses or anything. I ain't crazy.

Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

There's a meme on LJ right now. Oh like you were surprised. Anyhow, it's "Which Peanuts character are you?"

One of the possible answers is Marcie. Sir.

OMG! It all makes sense, now. Zoe is totally Marcie!

If I only had a brain...

ita, why don't you count as a fighter? Because you've totally got professional counted. Just the not-killing-your-coworkers thing proves that beyond debate.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I was wondering the same thing, Betsy, but then I guessed that by break 50%, ita means go over 50%, and not just be at 50%.

I can't even.

Saw Serenity again tonight with a group of Browncoats in a "VIP" theatre (like, 24 seats and they bring drinks to your seat). It was a nice way to see it. We went out to dinner as a group afterwards and had a very pleasant time chatting about the film. It always surprises me when there are people who are fans of the film who didn't watch Buffy or Angel at all. One guy said that the dark setting of FF/Serenity really appealled to him, but the brighter look of Buffy never did.

If I only had a brain...

Sometimes genre matters. I love Tim's work a lot, but *The Inside* was too scary for me; it pushed in a different direction than his other work and I couldn't/didn't want to cope.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Yes, Perkins -- that's what I meant by break 50%. Half just doesn't cut it.

Woohoo! I understand ita was right.

Now tagless for your comfort.

This is how I want to see it again.

Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

Personally, I would have kept the Dark!Mal moments in. It's the driving of the characters to extreme circumstances that interests me. Fox!Mal (as evident by the difference of 'Serenity' (pilot) to 'The Train Job') annoys me. If I wanted Chandler, I'd watch Friends.

I certainly think the advertising for Serenity is just.. not right, in retrospect. But it's a hard thing to market. I had a go at putting together a trailer for the DVD yesterday, which roughly included:

- Starts "Secrets are not my concern. Keeping them, is" from The Operative.

- "Serenity" theme, Universal logo.

- Serenity logo, pulls out to ship.

- Fly by of Serenity at the end of the film ("Love").

- Serenity landing in Beaumonde.

- River pre-Miranda Fruity Oaty Bar freakage (not the Oaty Bar itself, River's flash reactions).

- "Who are we going to find in there... the girl, or the weapon?"

- River Reaver grabbing throat freakage.

- Kaylee on Haven, shocked. River stood beside the burning swing.

- "From Oscar nominee Joss Whedon"

- Shots of crew, with guns, wondering around Miranda.

- Bodies. River freaking out. "God, make me a stone".

- Review quote.

- "I know the secret. The truth that burned up River Tam's brain."

- Another review quote.

- "This is what they feared she knew. Somebody has to speak for these people".

- "Serenity on DVD" with date.

The end. It's all undercut with emotional music. It's very serious in tone. There's little CGI. It's nearly all character shots talking.

It won't go anywhere, as I don't edit trailers for a living. And it's quite possibly crap. But I think it's more newbie friendly, as it's very much not screaming "B MOVIE@~!" to me, it's saying "Intelligent, serious film about.. something".
