Anne, why are posting about Serenity in the Netiquette thread?
Oh. Wait. Sorry, my bad. I was lost for a minute. (But not LOST because, despite DLA, I don't watch the show.)
Jeez, 116 new? I might have thoughts on some of this but I just woke up and haven't had coffee yet. I'm sure, by the time I do, something shinier will have caught my attention and distracted me from them.
Inaras CGI bow and arrow annoys me. One second it's CGI, and then 2 seconds later it's a bow and arrow, and then it's CGI, and then it's a bow and arrow.
The thing that probably got the biggest laugh from me was the look that River gave Simon when he asked if he was talking to Miranda.
The Visual Companion shooting script has her speaking a line there, something like (I'm AFB) "I'm not a multi, stupid." Telling, not showing. The expression is much funnier.

Um, maybe it is like a cloaking device and has to de-cloak to fire. Or whatever.
What I don't get is the need for it to be a CGI arrow gun thingy in the first place (or I guess that would be second place). What was wrong with just having the long bow?

I caught that in my 2nd viewing. I just figured that since she's very much background in the snippet where it isn't CGI they chose not to devote the resources to that. I blame the screening audiences for the fact that any of it (Inara's bow/gun) is CGI. It seems they didn't buy the simple bow & arrow.
During the first screening I saw, Inara just up and disappeared during the fight with the Reavers as far as I could recall. So I didn't realize it was ever just a plain bow and arrow, which is certainly deadly enough so I don't understand why there was a need to change it into some weird sort of bowgun thingy.
I'm actually glad we only had a kerfuffle. (I think it grew a bit past fuff, although it may still be a kuffle, as no one seems mortally wounded.) I was afraid the thread had been taken over by soap talk again. Or was that Minearverse?
ION, Serenity has left Juneau. I now anxiously await the DVD. I think I may be a fan. Perhaps part of a fandom, although no fic or cons.
Both local theatres I frequent are still showing it, though one has dropped down to only two showings a day.
Minearverse is soaps, crafts, feminism, and pictures of dogs.

Can, worms. (I think Jars put it best to me this evening with 'Shut up, Kev', or words to that effect).
The soap talk was Minearverse. It's burnt into my brain.
The DVD has Mal and Inara's almost kiss restored. And the shippers go wild.
