Kaylee: Captain seem a little funny to you at breakfast this morning? Wash: Come on, Kaylee. We all know I'm the funny one.

Firefly 4: Also, we can kill you with our brains

Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe. Like the other show threads, anything broadcast in the US is fine; spoilers are verboten and will be deleted if found.

I can't even.

I've seen Serenity six times, I consider myself a Browncoat and I've talked up the movie to friends who didn't know what it was. I don't consider myself a crackhead for any of that behaviour. I've encountered plenty of people from other fandoms that are way craxier than every single Browncoat I've met. Buffy fandom, I'm looking in the rear view mirror at you. I think FF/Serenity is just the most recent. Every fandom suffers from what a friend of mine calls "SignMyBoobism".

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

I've seen Serenity once but I'm gonna see it at least once more very soon. I think my record was Hedwig and the Angry Inch, which I saw in the theater 7 times.

You know, we could experiment and cancel football.

I am one with JohnSweden.

Browncoats on the whole, far less craxy. At least the hundreds I have met.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I've heard secondhand reports of some excesses, but until I see Browncoat behavior rivaling that of the fans that went after Joss following Tara's death, I don't think they can hold a candle to some of the Buffy craziness.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Huh. Just wait until Serenity VII, The Undiscovered Country, when Jayne decides to bottom out for Dr. Tam, and right before he drops trou, BOOM, shot by crazed Kaylee.

THEN we'll see who goes Kitten.

That would be me.

You know, all in all? Difficult comparison to make.

Can't really compare what would have happened had Buffy been canceled after a handful of episodes aired. It likely wouldn't have made it to DVD at that point, so long ago. Internet usage wasn't nearly what it is, now, so a frenzied net uprising would have been unlikely.

If Firefly made it to season six, would Firefly fans have gine mental if Zoe was shot and killed in Wash's arms? Yep.

If Simon came out and had the tender Bareback Mountain love with some rancher on some moon, and then got shot in the back, and Simon went all dark simon...

You get the picture.

Are Browncoats more nuts than Bronzers? I dunno. We had the whole PBP issue and Pruittgate and Meteor, so there was that, along with Big Boy and kirbyclause before my time. Browncoats seem to identify as Browncoats wherever they call home, the Serenity board or the OB or here. Perhaps I should start calling the craxy Browncoats, "Reavers" to avoid confusion.

Completely unrelated, I never identified as a Browncoat. But it makes me smile to think a few Bronzer/Buffistas started the campaign that's credited so heavily.

Wow. That's what a post looks like when the Ambien starts kicking in. I should go to bed before more stream-of-consciousness posting causes me to tell you all WHAT I REALLY THINK OF YOU.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

The post was pretty lucid, Allyson. Or perhaps permasleepdep has me think it so.

I don't think the Browncoats as a whole are crazier than any other fandom, but from my purely selfish fannish POV, I find the crazy ones slightly more annoying, because they are harder for me to avoid in the wilds of the Internet, being focused as they are on the 'verse as a whole. The crazy Buffy fans tended to focus more on specific characters or relationships, so it was easy for me to avoid them just by avoiding anything dedicated to said characters or relationships.

When we kill people it makes the policemen flustered and stern.

Allyson is me, only a whole lot better with the words. And the whole being Allyson thing, I can't compare to that.

You know, we could experiment and cancel football.

The OB is calm compared to the craxy reavers at the Universal board. The OBers have been there for three years and Allyson I count you as one of us whether you like it or not.

People will be excessive, there is nothing we can do about that.

We have a movie and I count that as a win.

We win.
